The Club Regina was a pleasant surprise, nice facility, nice area. It's not over the top lodging in American standards but a solid 3+ stars. The staff was very pleasant and helpful less the big time share push at all. I said no, they gave me a 2 drink coupon and I was happy as could be. The resort is well kept, and mirrors its sister property the Westin next door. The one bedroom I had included a nice king bed, and a not so inviting hide a bed in the front room but both rooms have newer flat panel tvs with a few english channels. Nice little kitchen area, and bathrooms, and was very clean and well kept by the cleaning staff. Claudia was great and effecient, as well as speaking very good english ...... she helped me figure out my bus fare. The couch was okay to plop on although you sort of slide on the preinstalled sheets and not sure if I would subject my back to it as a bed when folded out. Guess it would be okay for the kids, perhaps your in mother in law, even a lock on the bedroom door for soem sense of privacy. The AC was chillin properly in both rooms and both rooms have access to the balcony area w /jetted tub. I never used it but was a nice touch. I had a nice view of the ocean, although that was somewhat lost in the sounds of the mucho sized air handling systems on the next roof over. I may have complained had I not been gifted the room by a friend. It was still a great place for a quick getaway. I would not say it is overpriced for food and beverage onsite, but is not terribly pricey, but watch the prices since there are much better places to eat at in the marina area down the street.Staff was very courteous and friendly, although one day I was a little concerned with the work crew washing some rockery on the 6 floor courtyard area with pure gasoline and no fans, although it is somewhat open it was pretty alarming level of fumes, and was glad I did not happen to meet someone smoking in the hallway. Otherwise, it was a great place to stay location with both nice little beach and, nice pool with music kept well within tolerable levels during throughout the day. There was no early morning sports director barking orders....and kickin up the jams. It was very well controlled, with a great team running it. They were busy but not a nuisance and always coming up with things for the few kids around. Being condos the Spring breakers weren't in force here the week I was, in fact I saw just a couple places down the road seemed to reverb each night as I walked home from the marina. The resort is situated in a great area, with security check point and the fence it seemed a little much, but felt completely safe. In fact, everyone in PV was friendly to this NW Gringo and his minimal espanol skills.... I do try. Was a respectable resort and enjoyed my stay, been at better and been at much worse.

Room Tip: Room 651 has a nice view but the AC systems may be annoying to some, but was quiet when closed up fo...

If you exchange to come here you will not be disappointed . First of all the units are very clean not large but comfortable . The one bedroom is a lock off from the living area-kitchen .Both have TV and self contained bathrooms . Kitchen on a rating of 1-5 I would rate at a 3. We really needed more pans and kitchen utensils but we survived. Be sure to check the list of what is included as several items listed as included were not there.

Other things you should know :

1.Take the presentation if you like to work out. The gym is one of the best I have seen in this area. It will give you a pass per day worth $10.00 for a good work out. Plus you will get a 20% discount for the meals at the restaurant and pool side. The presentation is low key with breakfast and no pressure. A nice change .

I2. If you do not want an extra linen charge of $30.00 on your bill be sure to tell then upon check in. In this way linen is only changed twice a week .

3. There is free WIFI in the lobby area . Or you can go to the computer room by the restaurant and use the on premises computers at no charge.
4. The bus stop is at the road at the end of the driveway. It will take you to town or you can stop at Walmart near the ship terminal to get your groceries
4.There are two convenience stores at the road where you catch the bus. Wines are very expensive so I suggest you catch the local bus and get dropped of at the Walmart a few minutes down the road.
5. Be sure to try "Victors Restaurant" in the Marina where there are many to chose from.I liked Victors Seafood special at 145 pesos --great value. Just walk down the driveway and across the street to get into the Marina area. Might take you 10 minutes and the area is very safe.
In summary this is a grat place to stay if you do nto want an all inclusive package and a good location to get around from to see Puerto Vallarta .

Room Tip: Most rooms offer some ocean view.

We had a wonderful stay at Club Regina. They were wonderful and we were able to move to an ocean view on on 3rd day - so that we were able to really view the ocean. Our first room was on the Westin side of the resort, so to get to the beach we had to walk to the beach and then to the Club Regina side. A bit odd. Even the fence that divided the pools and potted plants that blocked the sidewalks. I'm not sure why - but it was kind of funny. Easy to catch a bus right outside the hotel and a nice walk to the marina where there were good restuarants.

Room Tip: Ask to be on the 8th floor or above - that ensures you get an ocean view.

Just returned from a week at this resort and I have to say once we got past of few of the issues we had a great time. Here is what our issues where...

Upon check in we presented our reservation and they were unable to locate our reservation, we gave them the print out that is provided by Diamond Resorts and after a 20 minute wait they were able to get us a room. We went to our room and found a beautifully renovated room, clean and spacious. the next day we went out for the day and came back and our keys didnt work, when we went to the front deks they indicated that they had us checking out, they again couldnt find our reservation and were asked to come back with a copy of our reservation, since they took it upon check in, we had to retrieve it from our computer..they then found it and apolgized for the mistake, i was still uneasy about it all...and all was good until the next day when we woke up to our check out reciept at our door..we had to make another trip to the front desk and make that correction..after that, things seemed to be OK as we didnt receive any other issues, which made me feel a bit better..

Again our room was nicely renovated except for the master bathroom, but the only thing that wasnt was the shower and it was OK. on the 1st night I was awaken to the smell of a fire, my husband took a walk around the resort at 3 am to make sure there wasnt a fire. 2 days later while in the pool we found out by a guest that our room was next to the incinerator and they burn their trash every other night...i smelt that burn for three of days while there.

The cleaning ladies where very pleasant, i think our lady was Rachel, she was very helpful & informative about the resort and where to eat. The concerge was also very helpful and we also booked a couple of day trips and dinner excursion using the event center at the resort. we were always greeted with a smile and you could tell that everyone who worked at this resort enjoyed being there. except for our minor issues, we loved the resort and will return.

Room Tip: when checking in i would ask to for a room the farthest away from the incenerator, so your not awake...

We just returned from a great trip to Puerto Vallarta. The Club Regina was very nice. We agree with other reviews - remodeled kitchenettes are real nice and the bathrooms are dated but understand that is the next remodeling phase. The grounds and pool areas just beautiful and well manicured. The on site restaurant Inizio is very good - nice ocean view from their patio seating. They even grow herbs around the area that they use in their cuisine. Pool pretty shaded in areas due to large palms. There is chaise seating in sand area very close to pool which gets all the sun - all day long. NIce restaurants at Marina area - nice walk. Note that many do not take credit cards which was somewhat of a surprise to us on this trip. We have a favorite at the Marina - must try Luigi's Gazebo. Excellent! If you do not see a particular type of dish on the menu Luigi will prepare just as you request. Victor's was very good as well. Be prepared for the little children at Marina selling their wares - sweet little darlings and the smile on their face when you bought was just too cute. They really weren't annoying - they were just there. Wal-Mart is a short taxi drive away for any needed groceries if you plan to prepare your own breakfasts/lunches in your room. Also resort deli is decent with what they have to offer if you need just a couple of items. The employees at this resort were all very friendly, happy and helpful. We had a couple of maintenance requests we needed in our room and their response time was extremely quick. Even did a follow-up call to make sure things were ok. Not bothered with timeshare offers at the resort itself. Trip to downtown PV was great - lots of different shops and another great restaurant pick - Les Distillerie. All in all our trip was wonderful - lot of relax time, book reading, and just enjoying family and one another. If you go - relax and enjoy!

Room Tip: Rooms on part of 7th floor (752/753)have very obstructed patio overhang. Just was so deep of an ove...

Just returned from a week at Club Regina. Pool area and grounds were very nice. The bathrooms could use an update, but the rooms were clean and nice. Our biggest surprise was how reasonable the prices were at the restaurant. The fish specials were so good we ate diner there 3 nights. Short walk to the Marina and only 80 peso cab fare to the Malecon. We had a great week here.

My wife and I stayed the last week of Jan 2012 and had one of the funniest times. We had a studio with room combo. Although the room was dated, you could see they were updating the units. They were large, spacious and clean. The view was to die for! Staff was great! Located on the beach we took our snorkeling equipment and had a great time enjoying the many fish and new coral forming on the breakers. We enjoyed watching whales breach and playin the bay just off our balcony and beach 3 of the 7 days. The lounge chairs and shade on the beach were wonderful. The gardens and landscaping around the huge pools were well maintained and gorgeous! The food at the resort was reasonably priced but expects Mexican service. Very pleasant but don’t expect speed. The Marina is just down the street and a great selection of food choices. Cabs were easy to come by and a trip to the old town or the boardwalk a must.
We had a great time and will definitely be back!
