We just spent one wonderful week in Casa I. There were eight of us and we found it quite spacious. It is located right on the beach in Bucerias between the Royal Decameron and the town square.
On one side of our Casa we had the beach and on the other side we had the pool. Casa I is the original house and is decorated very old Mexican. Two nights we had the Leonarda cook for us, she spent hours preparing food and it was well worth it. The estate was quiet, but yet we enjoyed meeting the other guests that stayed there. Mike and Vivienne made us feel very welcome from the time that we arrived until we left.
There are so many great restaurants in Bucerias, Sandrinas, Mark's, Meson Bay, just to name a few. We were looking for a change from the all inclusive scene and were very satisfied with our choice. Casa Manana is paradise!

Casa Manana in Bucerias was absolutely wonderful. The house was perfect. Very attractive, everything worked, plenty of dishes, friendly staff. I could go on and on. The beach is covered with beautiful chunks of sea glass that the ocean pulls in. I started each morning with a stroll down the beach picking up pieces of sea glass in blue, green, purple and the occasional pink. The price is right for this house too. Especially in the off season. We rented Casa Manana II. The are great markets nearby. We only spent one day in Puerto Vallarta. Bucerias was more enjoyable for us by far. If you like the tourist thing, with drinks by the pool alongside 600 people you dont know, then this is probably not the place for you. But if you want some privacy, peace and quiet, and dont like being bothered by hotel staff, you will love this house.

Agreed that this is one of the most beautiful hotels in the small little beach towns between Mazatlan and PV, but don't make the mistake of staying here. We spent one night based on the rave reviews received on this site and ended up sick for the next four days after.

Upon checking out the rooms prior to renting, we had noticed the over-powering scent of some sort of ammonia mix. We attributed this initially to a zealous cleaning staff, which is partially true as the place was quite clean; however, we found out the true reason after our dip in the ocean when we came back to take a shower. We ended up smelling far worse after the shower than when we went it and the smell was that of septic. Had trouble sleeping because of the stink of our own skin after that shower.

Tried the shower again the following morning with exact same results. After checking out of the hotel, we ended up talking to some wonderful Americans who have lived not half a mile up the road on the bluff you can see from the beach in front of Casa Manana. When we told them of our concerns about the water there at the hotel, they mentioned that the hotel has had problems for years, especially during the rainy season, of septic back-up.

To be fair, we did see that they used bottled water in the hotel restaraunt, but it certainly was not worth being sick for four days out of our seven day vacation because of a couple sewer showers.

On our way back up the coast, we stayed at the hotel El Delfin, which is newer and actually even a bit cheaper. Not nearly the quaintness that Casa Manana offers, but a cute pool and courtyard again do not make up for losing three to four days of fun in the Mexican sun.

We enjoyed a wonderful stay at Casa Manana in May 2006. If you want some peace and quiet outside of PV, try Bucerias. We are in our 30s and wanted some adventure and culture on our vacation, and not the thumping nightclub atmosphere of the PV all-inclusives. Casa Manana was a perfect base for our daytrips as it provided all of the creature comforts that we needed after busy days. It is ideal for couples but is also very kid-friendly, you just won't find the goup activities for kids here. Casa Manana is a beachfont property with 6 or 7 Casita apartments. Their website is a good resource and is accurate in all descriptions. Each apartment has a full kitchen and the grounds are safe, quiet, and beautiful. The Casitas are fully stocked so you can bring you own groceries. We prepared fresh fruit breaksfasts at home and then kept snacks and beer for each day. Dinner was usually at one of the small eateries nearby. The staff are discreet but helpful, and they have a cook available to make some excellent homecooked meals for you in your own kitchen at great prices. The pool is an excellent place to meet the other guests, much more intimate and friendly than at a larger resort complex. Within 24 hours of arrival we had met everybody else at the Casa and we were going out for group tours and meals each day. The beach is good, better than PV. The beaches seem to get better as you head north out of PV. The village is a 5 minute walk along the beach or the quiet street from the Casa. Bucerias is friendly and has all the shops and services that you will need. There are a couple of great little restaurants and shops within 2 blocks of the Casa too. You don't need a car here as you can walk to everything around Bucerias. There are frequent buses to Punta Mita or Sayulita for a day trip, and the PV buses run every 10 minutes and cost 10 pesos. After sampling many locations and resorts around PV, we think that this will be our regular base for our frequent trips to this area.

It was truly wonder ful. We enjoyed our stay all the way through. the town is perfect and the ocean is perfect for swimming. When we went we imediantly wanted to go back.
The staff were frendly and were helpful. The pool was salt water but that was great because you floated better.
The bedrooms were air conditioned while the great room was open to reccive the crisp ocean breeses. the beds were comfy and large. The water was safe to drink but there was a large dispenser in the pantry any way.
We loved the whole trip and plan to go back. NNn

My wife and I have stayed at Casa Manana a couple of times now and have been thoroughly impressed with this property. We will continue to stay at this estate when we visit Mexico because of its beauty, comforts, and the feeling that we are treated as family before, during and after our visits. The atmosphere of Casa Manana is beyond explanation. It consists of several casas and casitas and offers several options and price ranges for the wouldbe visitors. This walled estate is situated in a quiet area of Bucerias right on the beach and is close to many quality restaraunts that offer a variety of cuisines to fit any budget. The gorgeous pool and patio area is surrounded by lush vegetation and offers great serenity. The white, sandy beach is just a few seconds away via a couple of walkways that pass through a large palapa area with palm trees that in itself is a great place to sun, watch for whales and dolphins, read a book or just to have a cold drink and socialize with other guests. The beach and shoreline are gently sloped and the water is shallow with waves good enough for boogie boarding and safe enough for kids. Casa Manana is very well maintained and the staff takes great pride in keeping the property clean, secure and well manicured. The owners, Mike and Vivienne, are "hands-on" folk and are consistently concerned with the comfort and satisfaction of all the guests. They are friendly and warm and understand what it takes to make travelers feel right at home. If you need information on the local scene they are experts and are well connected within the community. The casas are all equipped with any utensil needed to prepare any meal. There are even a couple of Weber barbeques and mesquite charcoal available to grill fresh fish and shrimp that are available daily at the nearby fish stores. Casa Manana even employs a local food specialist, Leonarda, who will come in to your casa and for a very reasonable price prepare a delicious Mexican meal that is absolutely wonderful. Mike and Vivienne and their crew of workers make Casa Manana a place to dream about. The only negative aspect about staying at Casa Manana is leaving......... it's tough to leave "Paradise Perfecto"!
