“Lovely Surroundings in Great Vallarta Location”
Reviewed 24 April 2014

Just a few blocks from the Malecon on a street with interesting eateries and colorful vendors, this B&B with lovely, clean rooms on a courtyard of tropical gardens, is owned and operated by a friendly German-Mexican couple and their travel guide daughter. The rooms are spacious and tastefully decorated, and the breakfasts in the garden are home cooked and tasty. We had the best Mexican pastry there-a chocolate filled bread. Mike, Irma and Tatiana were great local resources, even found a seamstress to replace a zipper in my jacket. Comfortable bed.

One year later we returned to PV and again chose to stay at Hacienda Alemana in Old Town. Just a 5 minute walk to the beach and Malacon it is surrounded by great restaurants, wonderful galleries and boutiques making it an ideal location. Mike and Irma are gracious hosts: breakfast poolside, immaculate rooms, friendly staff, in-room massages, and a delicious German restaurant on site are just some of the amenities we love. The poolside breakfasts are included with the price of the room and are absolutely delicious; they vary everyday but alway include fresh yogurt with fruit. The restaurant serves lunch and dinner. I highly recommend the Mexican cheese platter and the lettuce wrap fish tacos for starters. It is rated #1 for a reason. If you are looking for a quiet, clean, and relaxing place to stay.....this is your place! We will back.

I have travelled the world and found Hacienda Alemana to be one place that I will return to. Mike, Irma, Tatyana and Oliver are some of the warmest most gracious hosts I have ever met. I was able to completely disconnect from work and found peace and relaxation sitting by the pool. You will find the true meaning of "mi Casa es Su Casa at Hacienda Alemana"
Breakfast which is included with our room rate was top rated. Something different everyday was fresh and muy delicioso. It wasn't uncommon to have Mike or Irma or some of the guests join you over breakfast. Be prepared to laugh because Mike also has a great sense of humor.
The rooms are extremely clean and very beautifully decorated. All rooms have a patio or deck with chairs.
A few other reasons to stay here: great location in old town. Walking distance to some of the finest and best restaurants in PV, including the German Restaurant which is owned by Mike and Irma and connected to the hacienda. Wonderful shopping and not as expensive as the stores on the Malacon. Walking distance to the Malacon but far enough to be peaceful and beautiful.
Lastly when you stay here you have access to in room message, private tours, yoga or the gym nearby.
I would agree with TA that this place should be rated #1.
Thank you again to Mike and Irma for your hospitality. You are beautiful people inside and out.
See you again,
Liz and Jill

Been back three times. That says a lot. Hospitality of Tatiana and Irma is wonderful, always makes arriving special, and those breakfasts, each one different and beautiful. So nice to have a great restaurant on the premises.Deserves to be ranked best.Missed Mike this trip but perhaps next year.Handy to everything and just far enough away from the busyness of the beach. Property is immaculately maintained.

We had a couple nights in PV and chose Hacienda Alemana for its proximity to the old part of the city, and for the secure, interior facing rooms, which helped cut down on the city noise level quite nicely.
We didn't have much interaction with the staff with the exception of Tatiana who helped me find an amazing masseuse on short notice that was able to come onsite (they set us up in a small, quiet room that made it very tranquil) and fix a very troublesome and painful knot in my back, for which I am infinitely grateful.
When we checked in there was really no one to greet us as we came at an odd time, but the waiter from the restaurant made sure to take us back and handed us our key without delay and invited us to come have a cold drink at the bar when we were settled in. Very nice having that bar and restaurant right next door! We enjoyed listening to the singer one evening as well.
I think the fact this is family owned and operated speaks to the small touches and level of privacy one feels in the midst of the bustling location.
The only "suggestions" I can offer are softer beds (our mattress was really firm... and that made it a bit uncomfortable) with a better comforter (something fluffy and cozy might be nice) and better lighting in the room (the table side lamp light was so harsh it was not good for reading or just to wind down before bed). These are trivial items and nothing could detract from a fair price with a central location that felt very safe and cozy.
I also enjoyed meeting new people at the breakfast table and they had very tasty coffee!
We will definitely return here for our next pass through PV. Although I think next time I will pick an upper level room.

Hacienda Alemana is as good as everyone says.

1. Location is terrific, less than 10-minutes easy walk down the main pedestrian street in the Old Town. Lots of fun shops, cafes, restaurants and bars. There are a bunch of art galleries just a few blocks away. With a bit more energy, you can walk up the hill into more residential neighborhoods. We liked mornings at the bakery, snacks at the food stands, and drinks at any number of places, not least of which is the beer garden and restaurant on site. Hard to think of a better place for a nightcap after a stroll along the water. We really liked passing the taxi stand at night, from which plenty of folks were returning to the hotel zone, knowing we had a two-minute walk to the room.

2. Inn is great. Rooms are plenty spacious, well-decorated. Our suite had a kitchen, including stocked fridge, living room and bedroom. The pool area is peaceful, lots of potted palms. Internet was fast the whole time we were there. Nice place to start the day with homemade breakfasts.

3. It was fun talking with the other guests, no pressure to mingle but seemed to be natural. Interesting mix, mostly couples. Most were return visitors to Hacienda, which says more than anything I can write about what a great place this is. Yet another benefit to staying here: no bad people claiming chairs for the day with towels laid down at dawn.

4. For the beach, we either hung out in a couple public areas, or paid a day fee to one of the resorts for chairs, umbrella and drinks. Very easy, and then a quick retreat to Hacienda.

5. Irma and Tatiana are the best hosts. Really, the entire staff is super-friendly. They offered great tips on anything we asked about, including a really sweet barber just a couple blocks from the inn. Tatiana served as the driver and guide on an all-day trip into the mountains that would have been the highlight of our trip, except the time we spent in town was so good that we're hard pressed to say one day was better than another. We love that Hacienda is family-owned.

6. We can't say "this is the best place in PV" because we didn't stay anywhere else. We saw the hotel zone, and are glad we stayed in the Old Town. Numbers (often) don't lie, so no question the big resorts appeal to lots of people. So it's silly to say "go here, and you're making a mistake if you don't." But I can say (i) we were very happy with our choice, (ii) we were a little sad when Tatiana showed us the bus stop for our trip to San Pancho, and (iii) we'll be back.

I stayed in Hacienda Alemana for 11 nights. The accommodation an hospitality is excellent. The rooms are very tasteful, very clean and spacious. This was the perfect way to end 5 months of travelling before heading back home to Melbourne. The rooms are beautifully appointed with lots of attention to detail. The breakfasts are delicious. I did not have the same breakfast once in all 11 days that I stayed here. Delicious Mexican speciality dishes were served for breakfast on a number of occasions. Good coffee and fresh orange juice are also served. Tatyana is an excellent host and tour guide, and she made me feel at home here. I booked a 1 day tour into the mountains with Tatyana, which was one of the best tours that I have done during my 5 months of travelling. The tour felt personalised, unrushed and away from the tourist traps. I had 2 meals at the German restaurant attached to the Hacienda, which were also excellent. All if the staff employed at the Hacienda are friendly and polite. The location of the Hacienda is perfect for exploring Puerto Vallarta. There are numerous restaurants, shops, bars, nightclubs, etc, in the immediate vicinity. The beach is only a 5 minute stroll away. The gym that guests can use is very well equipped and very clean. I would definitely stay in Hacienda Alemana again and I will recommend it to all if my Australian friends, and to my friends an family in the UK. Thanks for a great 11 day stay!! :))
