We stayed a week on the property. We stayed in a studio that was beach front so there were magnificent views of the beach and ocean from the balcony. The grounds are well maintained and there are a number of pools with loungers available.

The room we stayed in was a good size with a four burner gas stove and a newer 3/4 size fridge. The room price included daily service as well as Wi-Fi that worked extremely well. It also included bottled water which is a plus. We arrived at about one pm but they had our room ready so we were able to check-in early. A great way to start your holiday.

We had no specific complaints but a fair review must include the following: The room was a bit tired. It was clean but kitchen utensils, plates and so forth were of poor quality. Décor was good but older.

As this is a timeshare property we found it difficult to ask a basic question without someone wanting to sell you a timeshare. Sometimes you just want to go on a tour you don't want to buy a timeshare even if it means a free tour. I ended up booking a tour myself on-line.

Although a beachfront property there are only a view beach chairs and loungers. Much of the beach in front of Los Tules is walkable but they do not use for loungers. Small spots at either side of property.

It has an excellent location as there is a small mall with an excellent grocery store across the street where you can buy anything you need. Also numerous restaurants within walking distance. So location is good. We walked to the Malecon but it is about a 3.5 km walk (one way) but is well worth it if you are able. We spent many a morning walking the beautiful beach in front of the properties of the hotel zone so location is really good for that.

We would stay again as the rates were good and it provided us with everything we needed.

Room Tip: Ocean view room

We booked this hotel last minute, and moved in the next day. It is perfectly located across the street from a grocery store attached to a small mall.

The grounds are beautiful and meticulously maintained. There are many, many staff to tend to your needs. Los Tules is a combination of hotel rooms, small apartments, and villas. I'd highly recommend staying at least in a room with a kitchenette, so you aren't washing your cups in the bathroom sink.

The guests are both local and international, and we met a number of other Canadians on our stay - Albertans seem to love it! Pools are shallow, which is great for young kids. The ocean waves can be quite high at this location, but a simple walk (to the right) a few hundred feet will ensure a calmer experience.

The hotel is about a 15 minute local bus ride to the boardwalk and Old Vallarta. There are some great restaurants locally, included a taco joint called La Bendita Hora, which I'd highly recommend (across the street from the hospital).

If you're a sensitive sleeper, bring ear plugs, and ask for a room closer to the ocean. Street facing rooms tend to get night club bass noise for a couple of hours. Curtains block most but not all light.

All in all, this was a phenomenal experience, and my family loved it.

Room Tip: Ocean facing, with a kitchenette would be best.

After my 2nd trip to Los Tules, I concluded that it is the BEST opportunity for a relaxing, cost-effective, perfectly-located, clean, safe vacation in Puerto Vallarta. The staff is excellent, every request we had was immediately responded to. The room was perfect, the pools and restaurant are first class, and a great, comprehensive shopping center right across the street. Right outside the grounds is a bus stop for the cost conscious, a short and very low cost trip to, well, anywhere in PV. I could not be happier with my choices, and I will most definitely be returning.

Room Tip: Both experiences, while the rooms were quite different, were great. Excellent hardwood furniture, absolutely beautiful grounds.

It rains a lot in September, but it's a warm rain....bring an umbrella. 20+ of us were at Los Tules for the past couple of weeks. The rooms are sort of old but are still nice. The outside screen doors often fall off, but no big deal. The air conditioning is good & the bathrooms are nice, and the showers are great.
While we were there there were more Mexican guests than gringos, and we liked that. People were very friendly.
The pools are easy to get to and nice....warm and fun. I swam a bit in the ocean every day too; very salty, easy to float in & warm. The beach has too many small rocks on it and water shoes don't work well as they quickly fill up with rocks. Still, there are some good all sand spots.
There is every manner of peddler on the beach and you can buy pretty near everything from them...be sure to bargain.
Just across the busy street (cross at the lights) there's a big mall, and a good, big grocery store in it.
The restaurant at Los Tules is nice and not too expensive & the food is good. Margaritas are always 2 for one and they're good and 100 pesos for two of 'em.
There are lots of huge iguanas on the grounds at Los Tules and they're quite tame. I also saw a pair of pygmy owls there in the trees next to the river. The little river (which flows into the bay there) has a pair of crocodiles in it that come out at night...don't wade in the river!
I fished off the rocks and off the beach there almost every day and caught ladyfish, jacks, small roosterfish, a pargo, a skate, pompano, and off the nearby rocks sergeant majors, dusky major, yellow snappers and barred wrasse. My son-in-law caught a huge jack off the end of the rocks. Best bait is raw shrimp; buy it at the grocery store across the street. Small gold or silver castmasters also worked well, especially early, and then again late afternoon.
Supposedly the noise at night from a nearby disco is too loud for some, but we were in those 600 series rooms, and it never bothered me at all.
