Description: From steak to seafood, vegetables to burgers, anything that Rufo can throw on his grill he does -- and to much success, too. The outdoor restaurant fits perfectly with the charcoal grill flavors, fresh corn tortillas and hearty homestyle portions that makes Rufo's so popular. There's often a crowd during high season but it's worth coming early or staying late to get a taste. Rufo is a personable host and takes extra effort to make each customer's experience unique and fully satisfying. He has even been known to bring out a large platter of grilled steak, ribs, fish and shrimp for a group to sample when they can't make up their mind. There isn't a huge bar selection but the margaritas are strong and the beer is cold. On a hot Zihuatanejo night, what more could you ask for?

“excellent food and reasonable prices”
Reviewed 1 May 2014

We have been coming to Zihuatanejo for many years and have tried many of the restaurants.
We eat at Rufo's every time, if it is open (not always open in the summer). We ate there last night and had the fresh yellow fin tuna and the rib eye steak. Both were cooked perfectly and were tender and flavorful and good size portions. The grilled vegetables that accompanied both dishes are a nice change from the usual plain steamed vegetables that seem to usually be served in Zihuatanejo. The restaurant is located on a quiet side street a bit away from the center. Service is usually very fast, as it was last night.

“Great little restaurant”
Reviewed 10 April 2014

We ate dinner at Rufos 2 nites while we were in town. The open air atmosphere ,soft live music a couple of well behaved dogs hanging out while we ate delicious pork chops and chargrilled steaks made for a wonderful evening. Good service and margaritas . Its great for the nights when you might be tired of seafood and Mexican food. Put it on your list of places to eat.

“Not for us”
Reviewed 3 April 2014

Pros: live music, not too loud
Cons: cheap wine, poor service
Food was not to our taste. Grilled fish (tuna and snapper were spiced identically) was a disappointment. Quesadillas and sides were ok though.
We were promised free french fries for our kid - never arrived. Ordered orange juice - got pineapple.
White wine (only option was red/white) was... not worth trying.

“Great evening out”
Reviewed 1 April 2014 via mobile

My husband and I just returned from rufo's and can't wait to go back. We totally enjoyed out evening out; from the unassuming dogs that linger by your table to the quiet sounds of the band, our day ended as happily as could be. We had the snapper and the pork chop; both cooked to perfection. Just the right amount of food on your plate, and everything was delicious. We really enjoyed the condiments in the pre-dinner natcho service...different from the same old, same old. Our server was attentive but not over attentive as to take away from the ambiance. We left the restaurant knowing we would be back. My advice, go here.

“Rudolfo's Best”
Reviewed 15 March 2014

Rufo's is very special in all fields. Rufo himself prepares the meals and visits diners to make sure that all is well. His ribs are to die for, as are the margaritas. It's a special place that attracts special people. Believe me.
