Owner description: "Nurse Shark Beach" is a fun beach to explore and reachable only by boat.

We were told Playa Las Gatas was remote and peaceful, and a good place to snorkel. It's accessible mainly by a boat shuttle from the main pier in Zihua. The boat ride was fun, but once we got to Las Gatas we were immediately harassed by people from the many beachfront restaurants. Walking along the beach was like running the gauntlet. We are used to vendors in Mexico hawking their services, but this was extreme. It left a very negative taste in my mouth for the whole experience. We finally retreated to one of the restaurants that was relatively laid back. At each restaurant you can "set up camp" on their lounge chairs and rent snorkeling equipment, as long as you buy food and beverage. I felt like it was a little bit of a racket. It turns out the snorkeling wasn't that good either, and there was a lot of litter on the beach and in the water.

Just went once. Jam-packed, especially with kids. Not a big kiddie fan myself. Plus, the beach sands were not expansive but narrow. Could have been that I was there at high tide, but even so.

Great food, fun beach, snorkeling. Try the grilled banana, condensed milk, cinnamon dessert. Lovely, friendly people.

My wife and love this place. We prefer Tres Palms to spend the day. The food and drinks are great. If you want to leave the kids with a babysitter, this is what relaxation is all about! You must have a margarita and the shrimp tacos. I've met many very interesting couples over the years at Las Gatas. We look forward to next year.

Well, to be perfectly clear, this was the best beach we visited while in Zihua. Apparently you can walk down a rocky path to this beach alone the cliffs, but we opted to just hire a boat taxi from the marina. White sand, blue water, and decent snorkeling just off the beach. You can opt for the crowds closer to the boat landing or simply walk a few meters to the opposite end of the beach for total isolation. There's plenty of beachside cantinas offering you lounge chair rentals with food and drink service. You can't go wrong here.
