We were told Playa Las Gatas was remote and peaceful, and a good place to snorkel. It's accessible mainly by a boat shuttle from the main pier in Zihua. The boat ride was fun, but once we got to Las Gatas we were immediately harassed by people from the many beachfront restaurants. Walking along the beach was like running the gauntlet. We are used to vendors in Mexico hawking their services, but this was extreme. It left a very negative taste in my mouth for the whole experience. We finally retreated to one of the restaurants that was relatively laid back. At each restaurant you can "set up camp" on their lounge chairs and rent snorkeling equipment, as long as you buy food and beverage. I felt like it was a little bit of a racket. It turns out the snorkeling wasn't that good either, and there was a lot of litter on the beach and in the water.
