Hotel Solimar Inn Suites
Ranked #28 of 60 Zihuatanejo B&B and Inns
Reviewed 11 April 2014

To really experience Zihuat at it's best you need a safe, clean, friendly home. At Solimar Inn Suites you have it all. A family run Inn that makes you feel welcome as soon as you arrive.
Your suite is ready for you with all your needs met. This was our sixth year returning home and we are coming back for the seventh. We are in walking distance to fresh fruit and veggie markets, local grocery store, butcher and dairy bar.
Every morning fresh buns are delivered to the Inn, fruit wagons, ice cream wagons and even baked potatoes. Solimar has all the comforts you could ask for. Daily maid service, clean towels, fresh sheets and a wonderful common area for all to enjoy with a pool to enjoy and relax in. Our hosts Edison, Ale and Tia are always there to help with any dilemma that may occur.
We look so forward to returning to our family and our home in Zihuat.

Room Tip: There isn't a bad room, all rooms have wonderful balconies that face out to a very pretty park a...

Solimar Inn Suites is right in the heart of the central district of Zihuatanejo. It is within walking distance of just about everything in the city. If you are looking for a Florida style resort you are in the wrong place. Solimar is a quaint 12 unit all suite hotel owned and operated by a lovely family. The owners pride themselves in serving their clients. My wife and I have been staying at Solimar for several years and every year it feels like we are coming home. We will be returning in 2015!! Thank you Edison.

This was our fourth year at this quaint hotel and we will be going back in January for year 5. If you are looking for a 5 star all-inclusive resort this hotel is not for you. If you are looking for a clean, family owned and operated hotel located in a quieter residential area and close to all that Zihautanejo has to offer, then look no further. The main Mercado is just a few blocks away and there are great vegetable shops and a fish market just down the street, right beside a conventional grocery store. If cooking is not your thing, you are only a short walk to some of the best restaurants in Mexico. The beaches are easily accessed and the main pier is a 10 minute walk.
It is so nice to have air conditioning if you want to use it, and of course the pool is so inviting after a day of touring or to just hang out at and catch some rays. Most of the suites are on the shady side and face a small park so to be able to leave your balcony door open and catch a breeze is a bonus. The suites have the basics for light housekeeping and are cleaned daily. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable and the front doors are locked at night to ensure your security. All in all our stays at Solimar Inn have been most enjoyable and we look forward to our return every year.

Our room was occupied at the hotel we were to stay at for a couple of days was occupied the first night- since we had all ready paid by Pay Pal, the owner had the taxi driver take us to this hotel. We were really surprised at how nice it was. We had been staying at another hotel across the wash a couple blocks away and never new this hotel was there. Do not know how many times we had passed by close to the hotel. Our only complaint is, because we were only staying the 1 night and then going to our other hotel if we wanted to make coffee we would have to rent the coffee pot- it's free if you are staying longer. The hotel is just across the wash(canal) from one of our favorite places for breakfast. There are so many little places like this in "Z" that you do not here about. The hotel is in walking distance to everything. It is a beautiful walk from the hotel to the bay and the basketball court where everyone goes on Sunday night. Sunday night is family night at the basketball court with entertainment and all the food carts.
What one has to remember most beds are hard. So many places have a concrete platform and the mattress put on top- very hard.

Room Tip: We like the balcony on the street side to be able to people watch.

First timers in this hotel. Great location, close to everything, downtown, madera beach, supermarket, town market, etc. In the morning a guy in a tricycle came to the hotel’s front door to sell fresh fruits and another French bread, you can’t beat that! Very comfortable suite with balcony. Services well adequate for the price. Nice pool and bar area, they don't sell drinks you have to bring your own which was ok with us and they even let you use their fridge if you want to put your beers. The staff is wonderful, Edison the manager, Thia (Edison's auntie), "smiley" Maria our chambermaid and Joel the night watchman that made us feel very secure at night. A great all round place. They made us feel right at home. We'll be back and recommend it to our friends.

Room Tip: If you have a hard time with stairs then ask for a suite on the 2nd floor, the hotel doesn't hav...
