“Definitely the best lodging on the best beach!”
Reviewed 24 March 2017 for a stay in March 2017

Absolutely perfect! The location of this lovely villa steps from the BEST beach in Mexico (and we have been to all) is just one of many reasons you should stay at Casa del Platero. The layout of the house is perfect for groups of friends or families - you can have privacy but perfect areas to gather to party or relax. The infinity pool (which you will LOVE) and seating areas have a view of the bay that is exquisite, while being surrounded by beautiful palm trees and lovely garden areas. Steps away you can walk the beach (if you can tear yourself away from the peaceful beauty of the house), about a mile stroll to the opposite end - and it is a great walking beach. Swimming, or just hanging, in the ocean is a favorite pastime with the gentle waves. When you find yourself back in the house, which is such a great combination of traditional and updated, you will find so many interesting pieces of artwork - we especially enjoyed the paintings and the masks. All together, we can't imagine any reason to ever spend a Mexican beach vacation elsewhere - access to fishing, snorkeling, massages, etc allows everyone to enjoy their favorite activities. By the way, the town of Zihuatanejo is so superior to other glitzy beach resorts, offering wonderful restaurants,l shops and friendly locals - a fun walk or cheap taxi ride away. But no need to eat there if you have the staff prepare your meals - perfection! They are simply the best caretakers, and we miss them!

“Pure Relaxation”
Reviewed 20 February 2017 for a stay in January 2017

We are a life long "Northern Michigan Cottage Family" fondly known as Camp DOWHATCHAWANNA and we found DOWHATCHAWANNA South!

The Hampton's lovely home is filled with character. The views are incredible only topped by the amazing care of Mireya and Laco the lovely caretakers of this paradise.

Lovely pool, an easy walk to the ocean, wonderful restaurants nearby (but with Mireya's cooking who needs then!) and quick cab ride to the Village!

We hope to return again!

Having been to Zihua. 30yrs + ago I was concerned about over development that might 've ruined the magnificent bay & quaint town, the laid back vibe of Playa de Ropa-when we 1st. stepped into the gate ,the feeling of "ahhh,it's perfect"told me that we had mde the right choice!tThe design of the house takes perfect advantage of the site &the views w/maximum privacy, but always open to the views &the wonderful breezezs. The pool is fabulous, the staff couldn't be more friendly & the food was great!

“Paradise overlooking La Ropa Beach”
Reviewed 16 April 2016 for a stay in March 2016

Our group of 8 family and friends were looking for a house to stay on our first visit to Zihuatanejo. Casa del Platero was the perfect fit for us. The house is beautiful. We rented the entire house. Our days were spent enjoying coffee in the morning either on the upstairs patio or around the pool. Mireya cooked us a wonderful breakfast every morning. Every afternoon either after being on the beach or doing some excursion we would be back enjoying the infinity pool. Laco was so helpful with helping us with shopping, getting places, scheduling snorkeling trips and surf lessons not to mention the great margaritas he would make for us. Watching the sunset from the upstairs house with the huge living room windows open was great. There was plenty of room for us, the one bedroom upstairs is pretty open with not much privacy but that was not a problem for us. We felt like we were at home, Laco and Mireya were wondeful. The setting is beautiful and so peaceful. We loved it there and plan to return.

“Charming Private Villa Overlooking Playa La Ropa”
Reviewed 4 March 2016 for a stay in February 2016

This beautiful home is tucked into a lush tropical garden on the hillside overlooking Playa La Ropa. It is spacious, immaculate, and well appointed. Handwoven Mexican fabrics, tiles, and furnishings (including several perfectly situated hammocks) enhance the warmth and authenticity of each room. An infinity pool overlooks the Pacific Ocean, where we could watch the sunsets while enjoying a delicious margarita! What a delight it was to stay there!, The gracious caretakers, Laco and his wife Mireya, tended to the house, our requests and questions, and prepared delicious dinners by special arrangement. Walking along the soft sand beach was a daily ritual. Taking the local bus to town was convenient, inexpensive, and fun. Our week long stay was a welcome respite from a long snowy winter!

“Hidden Gem on La Ropa Beach”
Reviewed 30 December 2015 for a stay in November 2015

Our family of 4 stayed in the upper house in November for Thanksgiving. We have a 9 year old and a 18 month old. We loved it. The views from the living room and patio couldn't be beat. My favorite spot was the hammock on the patio. The location is at the end of the La Ropa beach, near the path to Las Gatas so it was ideal for beach access. We wanted great views but the ability to walk to the beach easily with a baby in tow. We'd been to Zihua before and I did extensive research and decided on Casa Del Platero's upper house and I'm happy I did.

The shore right in front is rocky so you have to walk a little bit North on La Ropa for more sand, but it only takes 2 min. The locals congregate down below for lunch and on the weekends at make shift stands near the trees and play music so it's nice to get some local flavor. The bus stop and taxis are close by so you can easily get into the centro. The caretakers Laco and Mireya were fantastic and owner Melissa was easy and great to communicate with. If you are traveling with a toddler, be aware that it's not entirely baby friendly (tile floors, stairs, drop offs) so plan on being very attentive!

Many of our guests choose to come back each year to Casa del Platero and we are pleased and proud of this. We have watched as relationships and traditions have developed over the years between our guests and our staff and I can tell you that they look forward to the repeat visits at least as much as our guests! Thank you to all of our guests for the kindness and respect you show to our hardworking staff. And we're so pleased to be able to share a little bit of paradise with you, too!
