“Magical, memorable, marvelous!”
Reviewed 25 August 2014

This is a very private, intimate boutique hotel overlooking the azure Zihuatanejo bay. Perfect for a honeymoon, anniversary or a very special occasion. The rooms are exquisitely decorated and service was fantastic. Everyday we would return to our room for a little surprise, a special touch. Staff was discrete, attentive and extremely nice. The hotel's best hidden secret was the restaurant. The menu was designed by a Cordon Bleu Chef, so it was true fine dining from beginning to end: breakfast, lunch and dinner. And....hands down the best massage therapist we'd encountered in a very long time. We will most definitely come back!

Room Tip: Every room has a small private swimming pool and oceanfront Views.

This is a small and very charming hotel overlooking the spectacular bay of Zihautanejo. Its setting high up on a hill is unique and its intimacy and quiet was ideal for us as we wanted to relax and unwind after the chaotic hub-bub of Mexico City.

The staff were, without exception, excellent and attentive to our every need. The massages are also worth having. We did not begrudge the 10% tip in the slightest (it is optional anyway and beats having to dig in your pocket every time). We occupied the Main Suite which was fantastically spacious and luxuriously simple at the same time. It had its own plunge pool and rain shower, and our son had the room next door which was very convenient. The design of the rooms, common areas, in fact of everything, was meticulously conceived and could not be faulted. We loved the little touches (which go towards making a good hotel great), such as the creativity which went into the flower petal designs laid on our beds every evening.

We rented a car as we wanted the freedom to go up and down the hill and explore the surrounding areas (Troncones and Barra de Potosí were well worth the visit). We didn't like Ixtapa at all but luckily it cannot be seen from the hotel and so we avoided it. Zihuatanejo is a lovely fishing village and we found everyone to be very helpful and welcoming there but we found it difficult to leave our cocoon of peace.

One of the best things about the hotel were the breakfasts! These were amazing (wonderful daily specials and yummy jugo verde, not to mention the freshly baked bread and pastries and exotic variety of fruit available). We also ate a few dinners at the hotel - all of which were wonderful and not at all unreasonably priced.

This is a very special place, superbly run by people who take pride in what they do. We would not hesitate to recommend it.

Room Tip: All of the rooms looked wonderful and were appealing in different ways.

We booked a week at Amuleto with high expectations... was after-all the highest rated hotel in Zihua... so there was a little trepidation about the experience living up to the hype. None required. Amuleto was a dream... The staff was incredibly attentive and personable. The food was incredible, the palapa in which we stayed magnificent. When you go, shoot for the big palapa #1 - you wont regret it. They took care of everything for us from custom food requests, to endless buckets of ice, to in-room massage. Everything amazing.

Room Tip: All the rooms are great, but of the rooms we saw, we REALLY liked ours (Big Palapa #1)

The only disappointing thing about our latest trip to Amuleto is knowing that with a little one on the way, it will likely be our last for a while. But everything about this trip was as spectacular as the others, and if you are looking for a peaceful, relaxing vacation, Amuleto should be at the top of your list. As I and many others have written, the hotel, the rooms and views are incredible, but what makes Amuleto spectacular are the people. The staff are absolutely wonderful, and each of them, upon seeing my pregnant wife offered anything they could do to make her stay comfortable. Fortunately, their normal level of hospitality is enough for anyone. We can only hope that when we are able to return, the same wonderful people are there waiting for us. Thank you so much to Vivi (good luck!), Juan, Jacobo, Isidro, Arturo and the rest of the staff for making Amuleto such an amazing experience and we hope to see you all again someday soon.

Room Tip: The Palapa suite and Suite #1 are incredible and worthy of the praise they receive, but the main sui...

We stayed at the Amuleto for our honeymoon and it was everything we could have asked for and more. My husband and I stayed in the Palapa Suite and it was picturesque. We loved the layout of the room and they stock tons of bottled water in the mini fridge every evening! The food is phenomenal and we ate at the hotel's restaurant for every meal except dinner on Tuesday (they don't serve dinner that night). We did not venture out of the hotel except for that one time because the Amuleto has everything you need! The service was fabulous and we plan on returning to this beautiful piece of paradise.

We stayed in suite 1 which had a spectacular view of the Zihuat and was most comfortable! The service was amazing and at the end of the trip it was difficult to decide if the Four Seasons in Ubud was better or Amuleto.

The food was great, albeit pricey as was the wine. We will return!

The pictures we saw on the website caught our attention, but our experience there is what will keep us coming back each year! My review is a bit late, but it feels like we were honeymooning there yesterday. We stayed August 2013 and are really looking forward to returning for our one year anniversary. The Palapa Suite is just incredible. The staff was amazing, They were professional and super attentive. 2 features we truly valued were the wifi & scrumptious breakfast. Each day I looked forward to those homemade mini croissants & preserves followed by a hearty dish such as omelette with huitlacoche (similar to mushrooms). Each meal was like a work of art & incredibly delicious. Zip lining in Ixtapa was our favorite activity.

Room Tip: The Palapa suite has its own upstairs terrace & shower, perfect for sun bathing. The main garden...
