“A Perfect Oasis of Tranquility”
Reviewed 24 March 2012

This is our first visit to Cinco Sentidos and it will not be our last as we have already booked for our return visit for December, 2012. Heiko and Aracelli are perfect hosts--particularly Heiko who is more than accomodating, personal, and warm. He made us feel at home immediately with his easy manner and hospitality. What a wonderful man!

I mentioned to Heiko and Aracelli before we arrived that i am an "ant phobic" and sure enough they went out of their way to ensure our suite was thoroughly looked after. Of the 4 nights we only found a few carpenters ants but nothing to be alarmed about as we were provided with 2 bottles of Raid.

The entire premise as well as our suite are spotless and beautiful. The common areas are beautifully landscaped with many shrubs, trees, and flowers and the tile work is a work of art.
Their common infinity pool is extremely clean with a built in bench and table in the pool where i love to hang out with a drink and take a nap in the water. there is also a hot tub and another little pool with cooler water that my son liked so much. around the pools are 6 lounge chairs with umbrellas that have both shady and sunny areas depending what you like. it is never crowded and it is truly an oasis of tranquility.

the terrace with the 5 tables for breakfast has a view to die for...it overlooks the Zihua bay and playa la ropa and having breakfast here every morning is something we look forward to. Heiko is truly a master chef with his creations of pancakes infused with bananas with a piccolo cookies topped with a sprig of mint to make it look like a "fantasy island." To accompany this, there is also the sweetest and freshest orange juice ( no sugar and no water added to it); a plate of danish and bread with jams, yogurt, granola, and butter. Then there is of course all the amercian coffee you can drink. Breakfast is served from 8:30am to 10:30am.
Every day, the breakfast menu changes because Friday is the "fantasy island" pancakes, while Thursday is scrambled eggs with a side of chilaquiles and ham; Saturday is Eggs Ranchero; Sunday is slow cooked pork; and Tuesday is shrimp quesadillas. Sorry I can't tell you what is for monday or wednesday because we won't be here. on our next visit in december, i will be fortunate enough to have Heiko's shrimp quesadillas.

The hotel is only a 10 minute easy walk to Playa La Ropa where there are many restaurants like Patys, Elvira, El Manglar and etc. We particularly enjoy the food at El Manglar--especially their shrimp pasta alfredo. The walk back up the hill to the hotel is not as steep as everyone makes it out to be. You can easily climb it without being exhausted as Heiko taught us--traverse up or walk forwards then backwards. by traversing, the hill was very manageable and short so don't let that deter you from staying at Cinco Sentidos.

The staff here is first rate--the maid cleans thoroughly so there are no pests, moses, our waiter for breakfast is very conscientious, and daniel who will carry all your bags to your room for you.

Now our suite--a very large king bed with a large balcony that has a heated (just the right temperature) private plunge pool, a large hammock, and 2 lounge chairs all in your own privacy. I am sure if you went in your birthday suit in the plunge pool, no one will be able to see. in the day time, the view from our balcony is drop dead captivating--it overlooks playa la ropa, zihua bay and las gatas. the view from here is addicting. at night from the balcony you will have twinkling stars dance over you while dots of lights are across the bay.

of the 4 nights we spent at cinco sentidos, there have been days where i did not want to leave the premise for anywhere other than for dinner. imho, the pool and surroundings at the hotel is much more enjoyable and relaxing for me than the beach, but each to his own.

we can hardly wait to return in december for christmas to this little "paradise" on earth or as we call it, our own little "Xanadu." I hope everyone will enjoy Cinco Sentidos as much as we.

Room Tip: Any of the 5 rooms are equally beautiful with spectacular views of La Ropa Beach

Having just returned from Cinco Sentidos, my wife and I agree that it ranks up there with the best of the places we've stayed. The suites are fabulous, the views are awesome, and the morning breakfasts were perfect! Most of all, the owner operators of this resort are among the most friendly, helpful folks you'll ever meet. Heiko is the perfect host AND a gourmet chef. He is so helpful answering any/all questions about the area and making sure everything is perfect.
The small staff really know how to run a small boutique resort and keep the landscaping and suites beautiful. Moses served us daily breakfast and Daniel ran to help us anytime we entered the property with anything to carry!

And a walk down the hill finds restaurants for lunch and dinner, with plenty of taxicabs around to assist with the climb back up the hill. You'll find things much quieter up on the hill away from the bustle of the beach.

It is easy to see why people return here over and over. Like everybody else, we hated to leave. But we will never forget Cinco Sentidos, and neither will you.

Aruba Don

Room Tip: They are ALL wonderful, but #5 at the top is sensational.

Cinco sentidos - What can we say that hasn't already been covered.

It truly is the best and most beautiful hotel we've ever stayed in - Heiko, Araceli, Moses and the rest of the staff could not have been more welcoming or attentive - nothing was too much trouble; the food was first rate - something different and delicious every morning, freshly made my Heiko's expert hands and eaten on the verandah overlooking the bay while marvelling at the humming birds and other exotic birdlife.

The room was beautiful, and spacious with the most wonderful view over the bay - you can lie in bed and watch and hear the ocean or just drink in the view from the plunge pool.

The Friendly and thorough staff cleaned the room daily, and when we ran out of clean clothes heiko organised for them to be laundered - dropping off and picking them up for us within a matter of hours.

After days spent on the beach or exploring the town, a dip in the fabulous infinity pool offers the perfect place to cool down and relax - we had the pool to ourselves most days.

My partner enjoyed several day long fishing trips which required a 6 am - ish starts - Heiko would be up waiting with freshly prepared coffee and a delicious packed lunch in hand as well as having organised a taxi to take him to the pier.

The hotel grounds are colourful and lush - really beautifully cared for and designed in such a way that they offer privacy and seclusion for each of the rooms. When the sad day came for us to leave -we had the pleasure of Araceli's company as she very kindly offered to drive us to the airport - absolutely nothing was too much trouble!!

We departed already planning our next visit - Cinco Sentidos is the only hotel we've ever decided to return to!!

If you want luxury, relaxation, first class and friendly service not to mention the most yummy breakfasts that will keep you fuelled for most of the day; all in beautiful and tropical surroundings, this is the place for you.

We'll be back in 2013!

This review is long-overdue! We stayed at Hotel Cinco Sentidos (the Grand Suite) in December of 2011, and absolutely loved every minute of it. There’s very little that I can say that hasn’t been covered by other reviewers: the hotel and grounds are beautiful and are meticulously and gorgeously well-kept, the rooms are spacious and lovely, the views from the rooms are spectacular, and the entire staff could not possibly be kinder or more accommodating. My husband and I are lacto-ovo vegetarians; our dietary preferences were considered with the utmost respect, and we were served delicious meatless breakfasts every day of our stay.

I cannot stress how sweet, thoughtful, and kind Araceli and Heiko are, or how wonderful our stay at their hotel was. It was a flawless vacation, and much of the credit for that goes to Hotel Cinco Sentidos. My husband and I are truly looking forward to our next stay.

Room Tip: The Grand Suite is worth every penny.

We just spent 5 glorious days at Cinco Sentidos and as all the other reviewers said, we didn't want to leave. Heiko was the perfect host. The minute we went up the steps to the pool I knew we had made the right choice for our vacation. Heiko walked us through all the amenities and left us to enjoy the drinks and appetizers he made for us at the pool. Since there are only 5 rooms, it is an intimate setting, VERY relaxing- we often had the pool to ourselves and also took advantage of our plunge pool every night. I cannot stress how awesome the breakfasts are- don't be afraid to have high expectations as they will be exceeded with every meal. The location is perfect - a short walk to the beach, a 15 min walk to town - and we always felt safe. Thank you so much for your warmth and hospitality. We will be back!

Heiko is as good a chef as he is a host. We felt like we were leaving family at the end. Be sure to stay in theGrand Suite, #5, the view is breathtaking and you can spend a whole day in and out of the plunge pool.

Heated plunge pool is a biiiiiiiiig added bonus. Love to see the lights at night in the warm pool.

One of our best Mexico experiences.

Where to begin?  Everything was fantastic!  We'll start with our arrival.  This was our second visit so we were excited to see Heiko and Araceli.  Heiko was waiting our arrival with a smile and greetings.

Our room - Heiko promptly showed us to the most amazing room (each is unique and all have spectacular views). The bed was decorated with flowers, the shower is large and has shutters that open so you can enjoy the most spectacular view while showering, the veranda has a plunge pool that is just the right temperature you can enjoy the view from here also as well as in bed!

Breakfast - We awake every morning excited to eat the most amazing breakfast, each is a piece of artwork and tastes as good as it looks. There are six tables, each overlooking La Ropa.  We always find the other guests fun to visit with and we come home having made new friends.

Hosts  - My husband was sick on arrival so we asked where we could go to get some cold medicine.  Heiko said not to worry that he would go to town and pick up some medicine.  True to his word he showed up with in the hour with meds in hand.  Need reservations, or suggestions, taxi,  no problem just ask.

The little town of Zihuatanejo is bustling and night, try the basketball court to see the locals hosting talent shows.  The waterfront in the morning is a great place to have coffee and to watch the fishermen coming in with their catch.  There are many wonderful places too eat all types of food.

This is not the place to go if you like mass amounts of people, problems finding a lounge chair poolside and screaming children!

This has become one of our annual vacation spots and we always look forward to returning.
