We had a fabulous journey through the Cacahuamilpa Caves in Guerrero, Mexico. The cave is huge, very wide, and quite high. There is a wide concrete walkway that you follow as you meander through. You will walk approximately 2 km in and 2 km back out. There is a public washroom 1/2 way through. The stalagmites and stalactites light up in colors of red, blue, yellow, and green as you approach them, and they are big and beautiful. Make sure to bring your camera, but turn your flash off, there is enough light in each area for your pictures to turn out. Outside the cave system itself you will find a gift shop, an eating area, a spot for cool treats, and beautiful flowers and trees. Our day here was wonderful, we were very glad we went, and we highly recommend it to anyone wanting to go.

Very cool place. Be prepared to walk on a wet surface. I was part of a group when I visited and we all enjoyed our time. A great way to pass the day in Guerrero, Mexico.

The Caves of Cacahuamilpa were really fun! It's a good attraction, the floor is really slippery, so make sure you bring tennis shoes. It's completely natural, I really loved it. At the end of my tour, it was raining, so the lights went off for a couple seconds and then came back, it was kind of scary though. I hope you visit them too!

We visited yesterday the Grutas de Cacahuamilpa, an hour and a half bus ride outside of Cuernavaca. Words can not describe the beauty and wonder we experienced viewing these grottos/caverns. There are several options offered once you arrive to visit the caverns. We took the tour inside the caverns, offered by the National Park. You must enter with a guide. The tour lasted two and a half hours, walking about four kilometers. Be sure to bring water-proof good walking shoes. We took a bus from the Pullman-Morelos Central Terminal in Cuernavaca. Our tickets cost 55 peosos each. You must not miss these caverns, if you visit Taxco or Cuernavaca.

The Caves of Cacahuamilpa are located about 150km away from Mexico City, it is very easy to get there and the tour around the place is not expensive.
To get there from Mexico City, follow the route to Cuernavaca and then to Taxco, it is possible to use the toll free road as well as the paid one. It is hard to get lost getting there, as soon as Cuernavaca is reached, there are several traffic signs providing directions, they are labeled "Grutas".
The place has a big parking lot, restaurants, shops and handcrafted objects.
Different kinds of activities are available, it is possible to purchase a ticket which includes only the caves' tour and add other activities like a raft tour in the river, zip-line and rapelling on the cliff.
I purchased the caves' tour with the raft tour for 150 pesos, the caves's tour was two hours-long and the raft tour about 30 minutes. The caves are amazing and have the appropriate lighting, it is important to wear comfortable shoes because sometimes the floor is slippery.
