Had a great stay at Las Sabilas. Bob and his staff made sure that things run smoothly. He also gave us some good advice on where to go and told us a bit about the neighbourhood. I was a bit sad not to get breakfast, I must have read the website wrong. Garfield the cat was a real highlight. The rooms were comfortable but not overly fancy. Good value for the rate we got. The taxi driver across the road was also a great bonus!

We had a terrific stay at Las Sabilas. We felt right at home and we felt a lot more comfortable than staying at a hotel. Tom and his staff made sure we had everything we needed and gave us excellent recommendations on things to do. The location couldn't be better, just a few blocks from Guadalara's historic downtown. On our next trip to Guadalajara we will definitely be back at Las Sabilas.

We arrived at Las Sabilas on on 1st March this year to visit our daughter who was studying at the Unviersity of Guadlalajara . It was a long journey from Heathrow and the taxi trip from the airport was our first taste of Mexico. I was tired and a bit overwhelmed but the minute I stepped into our room I felt comfortable. We awoke the next day to the beautiful garden outside our room, and coffee on the go in the kitchen. We stayed for a few days prior to a week long trip to the coast with our daugher and then came back for a further 6 days. I was so pleased to be back it already felt like home. After a hot tiring day out and the trek along the busy noisy streets back to our hotel, to step through the gateway into the little oasis of calm and into the ice cold pool was just heaven. The garden was beautiful and we were lucky enough to meet Bob Clarke the designer and owner.
Yes it was a little rough around the edges and yes the sheets and pillow cases didn't always match but it was mainly clean and the staff were so welcoming and accommodating. Coffee was always available as was use of the fridge for our food and also free internet access. If guests want high thread count Eygyptian cotton sheets and a L shaped box of a room with little bottles of shampoo I suggest they book into the Holiday Inn, if they want to relax somewhere real this is your place! I hope I'll go back one day.....

Room Tip: The ground floor room next to the pool is much cooler than the one above

If you are interested in feeling, tasting the old traditional taste of Guadalajara this is the place for you! But, be forewarned this is not your 5 star luxury hotel. It's more like staying at your nana's house retro 1930's. Garfield the cat will take good care of you. He runs the place. Everything is within walking distance. No need for a car. Alfonso the taxi driver will get you around. We will definitely return next year and rent extra rooms for the kids. A hidden paradise in a busy metropolitan area!

I stayed here for three nights and it is one of the most beautiful and relaxing guest houses I have ever been in. It is an oasis hidden in an unlikely location very close (literally a five-minute walk) from the centre of Guadalajara.

The rooms are large and clean (previous reviews talking about uncleanliness are now redundant), but it is the gardens which are amazing. It's so relaxing to sit in the shade with a book, surrounded by such beautiful greenery and with hummingbirds hovering over your head.

If you want crisp, matching linens, maid service every day, and someone waiting to serve you – this is not the place for you. The linens and rooms are clean , but the inn is very rustic, and charming. Las Sabilas is a relaxed, comfortable, lovely spot hidden in a great neighborhood in Guadalajara – close to the cathedral. The gardens, architecture, the design and thought that was put into the smallest of details is amazing.
They have a house dog – Lobo, who I just loved, and a funny little cat who lived in the private garden. My animals were at home and it was really nice for me to be able to be around these two. If you are going out for dinner – Lobo really appreciates some leftovers. What stood out the most for us was the help and advice and direction that we were able to get from Raul, who is Robert Clarks assistant there. Raul was extremely helpful and because of him, our visit to Guadalajara was made so much more enjoyable.
I would return to this inn simply because it would be like returning to a friends home.
There is a taxi driver across the street - Alphonso - look out the door and across to the left and just knock on his door. His daughter speaks English and he was so good about taking you and coming back.
Another taxi drivers name is by the phone and he also is very helpful.

We went to Guadalajara for a "dental vacation", and stayed at Las Sabilas for 8 days. The rooms, gardens, and pool areas are beautifully designed, and are a feast for the eyes. Robert Clarke, the owner, has done an amazing job with the architecture, design and landscape. The matress on our bed was very comfortable. Both Robert , and Raul, his assistant, were extreemly helpful with advice, and information, about Guadalajara. We especially enjoyed meeting the other guests in the common areas and sharing our experiences of Guadalajara with them. It was very casual, and very nice.
