This is a really amazing place to start your visit to Guadalajara, great Orozco paintings, originally designed as a Orphan home, now is a great art museum display. Totally recommended.

Te institute is located at the end of Paseo Degollado.
The building is full of rooms and each one with a different instalation.

Negative point:
It is not allowed to take pictures with your camera, unless you pay a 40 pesos fee.
However, if you take pictures with your mobile, it is ok... (?)

This is a must when visiting the beautiful city of Guadalajara! In order to appreciate the muralist Jose Clemente Orozco you need to see the "Hombre de fuego." I was there during the month of January and the weather was perfect: about 25 C, the guide was very knowledgable and the galleries were amazing. I was delighted and in awe with this place and definitely regret getting there late, I only had about 1.5 hrs before they closed. I still managed to see some of Diego Rivera's paintings and of course the murals by Orozco. Please go and enjoy this place!

P.S. El patio de los naranjos is also very pretty.

This is a unique place where you can spend many hours looking at the ceiling in the main chapel. We had a very good guide but after our tour we stayed for almost 2 more hours to look at the murals. There were some other exhibitions in the building but the murals are so fascinating we skipped them. The gift shop is marked wrong on the map but it is easy to find (right at the entrance). It has a fascinating collection of literature from the entire world (in Spanish, of course).

This wonderful, World Heritage Protected architectural building is almost emblematic of Guadalajara as is her Cathedral. The building, originally designed as an orphange has been just that plus much more, at one time, with its many dormitories, courtyards and facilities it served as an army headquarters and since the late 1980´s as Guadalajara´s largest public museum. Unfortunately some of the exhibitions lack international appeal, but there are some of Orozco´s most famous murals, and these should not be negelected by any visitor. The facilities can be rented for other events, so there is a vibrancy about this great architectural beauty.
