Hi everyone.. our experince at Hotel Fenix was remarkable. they treated very good. always polite. food was good.roomservice was good.bellman on time always.front desk always took care of our needs.. this is by far the best service I have received in a foreigned country..

The people working there were very friendly. In words yes, but not in actions.
When we checked in we asked for a room at the back side (less noisy) because we had 2 children of 3 and 5 years old.
They did that, BUT they also put a lot of noisy, young people there. Talking in the hall way, slaming doors. And that until 5 am.
We called the receptionist several times : yes, yes, I will send someone. But NOTHING.
I complained the next day. But I don't think it will help.
Don't go here.

We stayed at this hotel for a few days at the end of a two-week sojurn through Mexico. If I had not been so exhausted we would have only made it one night.
We were quoted one price and charged another. When it was brought to the front desks attention they denied ever quoting us the original price. We did not want to have to find another hotel at that point so just paid what they asked.
The doormen and conceierge of this hotel have got to be some of the snottiest and unhelpful people I've ever seen! We kept joking to ourselves that they acted as though they were bank presidents. They ignored you and if asked anything behaved as though you were inconveniencing them. They strutted around with their two-way radios and talked among themselves. That was about the extent of their activities.
Do not go barefooted in your room! The floors are filthy. It's obvious they've been mopped because there are mop strings all over. But if you want to see filth, wear some clean white socks and then look at the bottom of them. YUCK! The water in the shower never really got hot, it was warm. The location of this hotel is great, it's right in the middle of everything. The rooms were pleasant. They had good light and it was obvious that the owners are trying to get their act together. If they could just train the staff to be helpful and do their jobs it might be a good start.

I am in Guadalajara about 6 times a year and have always stayed at Hotel Fenix. I have seen their service and the facility deteriorate over the years, but continued supporting them and I like the location. The have recently increased their prices SIGNIFICANTLY and the service continues to get worse. Requests are ignored; you have to ask multiple times and ultimately go down to the desk yourself if you want any help (and I speak fluent Spanish!). The rooms often have wires hanging from the ceiling and often, the light bulbs are burned out. The remote control they give you at check in NEVER works the first time (usually takes about three times before you get one that works). The price increase was the last straw. I used to overlook the service as long as the price was right, but I refuse to pay inflated US prices for sub-standard accomodations and service. I am returning this month and will be staying at a different hotel for the first time in 10 years!

Good Morning!
My family and I stayed in this hotel for its location in the heart of Guadalajara.
I found out when we arrived at the hotel, the price we paid on the hotel reservation website was a lot more expensive than a walk in price, about $20.00 dollars more expensive, which is totally ridiculous.
The service was extremely poor at check in and way too slow.
When we went to our room, we could not sleep. There was too much noise that made impossible to close my eyes to get some sleep. I called the front desk for about 30 minutes to complain about the situation and the phone was NEVER picked up by the front desk personnel. I had to walk down to the front desk in the middle on the night to complain about the poor service.
In my reservation, I requested a room overlooking the cathedral on the top floor, to my surprise; I received a room in the middle of nowhere to overlook a parking lot and nothing else.
I told the lady in the front desk that I requested a room in my reservation as told before,
She said that nobody checks the reservations and all the information including your confirmation numbers were unknown to the front desk person.
I had to provide all the info to her, again; because I was not in the computer system.
I wanted to make a formal complain to the hotel manager, but as always he or she was unavailable.
To make the long story short:
Stay Away from this expensive cheap ½ star hotel.
Don’t waste your money, I felt ripped off for the first time on a 4th class hotel.
Best regards from a very unsatisfied customer.

I backpacked around Mexico for a few weeks, so I am familiar with hotels throughout the country.

We looked around the Guadalajara area, and found most hotels in the city to be overpriced for Mexico. In general, a decent motel room can be had for about $40 to $45 anywhere in the country. I remember the Fenix charging somewhere around that price range, so we picked it since we were on a budget.

You don't need a reservation. Just show up, and pay cash. That goes for anywhere in Mexico. Don't bother booking tours or hotels in advance. You will pay half the money if you just show up and find a room on your own.

Anyways, the room in the Fenix was very strange. The walls were made of some type of paper thin partitions, and the windows were painted over in white.

The room was an "interior" room, meaning that all the windows faced out into the hallway or to another room. Did I mention that the "windows" were painted white?

You could pretty much hear anyone on the other side of the "wall".

The sheets smelled like bleach, and the room was just overwhelmingly, glaringly white.

There was no television, and just a small bathroom, but it was clean.

The beds were pretty uncomfortable and hard.

There were all sorts of noises out in the hall throughout the night.

Also, did I mention that most of the lights in the hotel were turned off, including most of the ones on the floor I was staying. It was a bit of an exercise navigating the long, dark hallways. I would certainly not want to be in that hotel alone.

I would not repeat.

Staff was friendly. Service was slow. Unable to get wash towels, took two attempts to make them understand we use them for showers. Had hot water the first day, cold the next and warm the rest of the week. Took them 45min to give me my lock box. Would not recommend!! There are less expensive rooms in the same area with better service.
