We had a death in the family, the hotel reservations manager Rosamaria Mondragon was the most unhelpful person. We tried to cancelled it or even change days. She was rude, and told us that those were personal matters that she was not running charity. We explained that we were the ones financing the funeral of my father and could not travel due to financial problems that came up after the funeral. The last thing she said was that " if I did not showed up it was my problem to handle"

This is one of the newest hotels in Guadalajara since hosting the Pan American games 2 years ago. It is nicely appointed in vibrant colors of Lime Green, Hot pinks, Browns and Black.
The Bar is hip and kind of flashy, it reminds me of the Cosmopolitan Hotel in Las Vegas. Yet the service was weak.
The room with a nice size. The service was iffy. The left did not know what the right was up to.
The Check in ladies were snobby and were not very welcoming.
The breakfast buffet was fabulous and satiated my sweet and savory palate.
The best about this hotel is that it is fairly NEW. I like that. Sometimes in Mexico its a crap shoot when it comes to lodging. The Riu is doing a fair job. Free WIFI would have been nice.

I had an average stay at Riu, nice rooms, bad location, cold pool and boring bars and restaurants. Everything could be just a regular stay, but thanks to a pathetic service at the front desk, they ruined my vacation. An unrecognized charge of $100 usd was made on my name, and sadly no one at the reception took care for clarify this charge. There are a number of options of hotels just around the corner, don't let this people rob you.

The hotel is new and has lots of amenities! It is beautiful. The location is not so good if you want to walk to local restaurants or shopping....not much around it. The breakfast buffet is amazing and will please any palates!

Room Tip: Ask for a room that looks over the bridge

We arrive this weekend to the Riu Plaza for our first time in this brand. It was a great experience from the very beginning. Alberto at the front desk, he was very helpful explaining everything about amenities and services in the hotel.

The first night was a little bit difficult to sleep due to the extremely soft pillows you have but we ask for 2 pillows the following night and we could have a better sleep. In the morning we got breakfast at "Decapolis" restaurant where maria was very attentive and friendly but I have to say we had a "Royal Service" at the same restaurant on sunday with the Brunch. This is the most attentive staff I ever meet even better than Asia where I experienced and extraordinary service a couple of years ago.
The chef Moises and the waiter Emmanuel from treated us like family. I can see when the people has passion for what they do and most of the people in this resort do it..! If you ask for taco they immediately have the salsa in front of you. They can anticipate most of the things you need or you will ask for it.
My only recommendation to the this hotel is that if you have "Staff Elevators" give the priority to the guests. When i took the elevator to descend to the lobby a bell man come into with a dolly and a family tried to get in to and he didn't move to let them use it leaving the kids out and the father inside. When we stop in the floor Julio (Bellman) pushed he was very unkind asking to the guest to move so he can leave the elevator. This action might broke a hole great experience.

Thank you very mucho and congratulations for having a friendly and attentive staff.

The hotel is new, modern, and ideally located in Guadalajara between the old and new. Service in the hotel was excellent. All the things you'd expect in a 5 star. The thing that my wife and I were most impressed by was the breakfast buffet. The breakfast restaurant is wide , airy and extremely well dowsed with sunshine from the ceiling to wall to wall windows. The mood is set when you walk into the room. The next thing that you notice is that there are almost as many waiters as customers. If you would like they will bring all you ask for from the buffet. There are at least a couple of hundred items to choose from, plus a cooking staff to fix you anything you don't see or would like to have custom made. The choices cover Mexican dishes, American type breakfasts, European items and even a few Medittereanean choices. In a business hotel you seldom see people at breakfast just totally relaxing, reading or just visiting with family, friends or even business meetings. I rarely drink more than a cup of coffee but here I enjoyed my second cup and even a third with visits to the buffet bar for some new taste sensations.

Room Tip: Higher floors in the hotel give you a wonderfull view of the city especially at night.

when working in the city this hotel is a very good choice for proximity to downtown and airport. The staff are informed and friendly and I think for the quality of the hotel and pool area it is the best business hotel in the City. So you can relax and work at the same location.
