“Convenient and perfectly adequate!”
Reviewed 17 June 2014

Can't beat the price, the location, and the style of this hotel. Just blocks away from the center sights, and very close to some very good restaurants. Our room faced the street and had a great balcony (where we incidentally saw the most beautiful lighting storm the night we were there). The only downside is that our balcony door couldn't quite close properly, leaving a gap that made it pretty noisy from the street below, but nothing that wasn't unbearable. This place was wonderful for a short stay!

I stayed here with my mom. We were going to a concert in Teatro Diana, which is really near. We stayed one night and it was very pleasant. The room was very comfortable, clean and the only thin we could suggest improving is, the smell to tobacco. It was a stinky room. Not enough to make us wanna leave but, it would have been excellent with out the stench.
Everyone is very helpful and nice at the front desk. When we left, my mother forgot her raincoat inside the wardrobe. When we got home she called and they checked with the cleaning staff. They found it and gave it to a friend that picked it up later that week.

Room Tip: Be sure to ask for a non smoking room. They are all really nice.

Thank you for taking your time to review our hotel, we are pleased to hear your enjoyed your stay and that our Staff was able to assist you during your stay. The hotel in 100 % not smoking, but sometimes some guest don´t obey the rules and they smoke under their own risk train to get a ticket by the Mexican tobacco law, we apologize for that, and hope you can gives us an opportunity to host you again on your next visit.

We loved staying at this hotel! It is located in down town Guadalajara, so you can walk safely to the major tourist places. The structure and the decor is fabulous, it feels like you are in an hacienda. The personnel is humble and dedicated helping you get everything you ask them. Will definitely return when going to Guadalajara again!

We so wanted to love this place, TA scores were high, the facade was pretty, the location convenient, the furniture both in the lobby and rooms (we had to move three times in four days) were very pretty, and everyone was very pleasant. We also booked a room a day in advance, as we had a red eye in, and wanted to check in around 7:30 AM, in short, pay for a room we didn't sleep in to check in early, thus, so far so good. That night, around 4:15AM, the air conditioner started wheezing and coughing. Tee shirts, towels over the head, but it was irritating. Then at 6:00 AM the AC sounded like it just exploded, fan broke, something but it was loud and gave out. Called the front desk, and tried to go back to sleep. We had an appointment, and had to leave by 11:00, but we were assured everything would be moved, and our stay would improve. Not so fast, so while I applaud the logic of giving us a JR Suite, it was right on the front street, so again, noise all night, and this AC was gurgling and acting up. The bed was also smaller than our first one. (I am 6'2") So, while I was waiting for the wife to freshen up in the AM, I went into the quieter courtyard, to read and relax. By providence, a manager showed up, as the GM was off on Saturdays. He was kind enough to understand the predicament, and we moved again, this time one floor above our last room. Better sized bed, and more importantly, it seemed quieter. Well, then it the AC was wheezing when I turned it back on from sleep mode by 3:30 AM. Does anyone do any R&M on this property, especially with the AC units? So, again, three rooms in four nights. What point is there annoyance and time loss for packing, and repacking, and moving? Besides all the AC units, we had one room (208) whose sink handles didn't stop, you had to find the sweet spot in the middle to turn them off, and there was no F-Frio for cold and C-Caldo for hot on the shower handles, so be careful when you turn the water on. Our last room, 308 the toilet chain/plastic was broken, so we had to wait until the next morning for that to get fixed. 222 was right on the street, and let me tell you, the street comes alive at 5:15 AM, and goes until about 2:30/3:00 AM as there is a bus route. In summation, nice location, pretty appointments and remodel, nice staff, lousy R&M and tough sleep deprivation. Given that it is in Guadalajara, and not out in the country, and that goes for US, Europe, South America, it was very frustrating, but in fairness they did try and make it right. If this place had better R&M, this would have been an objective super review. Next time we will try the Villa Ganz or Fiesta Americana. We just prefer the historical, laced with decor details and convenience to other styles. But we need to be able to sleep without interruption. I really do hope they try and fix these Repair and Maintenance issues, as this place would be really wonderful

Room Tip: Be VERY mindful of you Air Conditioner Units Rooms on the front side, are very loud and noisy, no m...

I LOVED this Hotel in downtown Guadalajara, Mexico. It was very close to the Cathedral and Plaza Del La Liberation. We went there for a Live Music Festival specifically and the Hotel was in the PERFECT location for that. Old world, courtyards, roof pool, gorgeous rooms and beautiful sitting areas outside the rooms in the courtyard. Well appointed. We had the King large room with jacuzzi tub and it had three small balcony's. Great view from the 3rd floor. A/C was not very effective in the room, so we propped open the balcony doors at night with the garbage cans (windy) and got a nice cross breeze. Bring ear plugs, the city is noisy, just the regular traffic is noisy. Hotel staff was very nice. Morning breakfast in the lobby was nice, buffet style, a bit pricey for the breakfast. Next time i would adventure out for breakfast. Lovely place highly recommend it.

Room Tip: If you want to spend the extra money go for the King room. Great bathroom, lots of space. Bring ear...

Selected this Hotel based in large part on the excellent reviews it received from Trip Advisor. They were spot on. Prepaid four nights lodging online at a moderate ($60/night rate)and encountered no problems upon check in. My various requests were honored and the result was a nice, spacious room with a window, balcony and view. Added the refrigerator for $ extra per night. Well worth it for a 4 night stay. The Hotel shuttle picked me up and a travel friend coming from a different City an hour later. Kinda' pricey, but worth being able to connect at the airport and arrive together. The History of the Hotel is awesome and the décor retains their tradition. The restaurant Buffet id excellent from 7 am to noon. A la carte, I wouldn't bother...Prices reasonable though. Swimming pool and terraza on the top floor was nice. Always pretty busy though. Most of the Historic monuments and museums are within walking distance as well as many restaurants. Staff was very courteous and attentive. The concierge Manuel was professional, likable and most helpful. Great place; great value.

Room Tip: High up as possible. Window with a view.

I got a great rate on Hotwire for $64 a night, so I can't complain about the price, the location or even our room. We were there over Christmas, and our room was on the 2nd level and the beds were a little hard, but comfortable. The staff was great, spoke decent english, and I got to practice my spanish. Their restaurant sold a great chicken soup! My then husband wasn't feeling well and I asked if I could get the soup "para llevar" and the staff hand carried the tray to our room. What service!
