This hotel has excellent service, especally by concierge Betty, but may not be to everyone's taste, It's an ultra modern boutique insertion into the city's historical center, facing the Jardin de la Union. We opted for one of the suites facing the Jardin, which was a bit noisy late at night from a disco across the plaza, but it didn't keep us from sleepng., The bed was comfortable and the bathroom cozy but adeqiuate. We wound up not using the living room area of the suite. This area of the city has many good restaurant choices and is convenient to other attractions in one of the most atmospheric and historic cities in Mexico. The hotel does not have its own restaurant but provides breakfast at a large place next door.

Dear Guest:
I would like to thank you, for giving us the opportunity to serve you during your last visit to this magical mexican town. Let me tell, that the main idea is to have 20 hotel rooms and suites completely different each one from the other. Always trying that our customers can find, that room or suite, with the style you like most. Beggining from the most classical, to the most contemporary styles. Your feedback helps us to try to improve on those points, where our guests see us weak or unacceptable. He also commented that the entire staff at the 1850 work every day with the unique purpose of trying to achieve excellence.
We appreciate your comments and wish you a happy return home.
Kindly regards.

We loved this very modern newish hotel for it's big, comfortable room and quality bedding as well as the tall doors opening onto the busy square at the front of the hotel. Staff is trying to be world class and really went out of their way to help us find music and dining in this fascinating city.

Room Tip: Outside rooms bring you close to all the late-night action and live music in the square (light sleepers be aware)

We booked this hotel for a quick one-night getaway from Guadalajara (2-3 hr drive). The location is top notch, just in front of Teatro Juarez. The rooftop bar was a little cold during winter season. It can get a little windy, but it's worth it just for the view. Our room decor was a bit tacky for our taste, but it was ok, although a bit small (and we booked a Jr Suite). We did not have a view, but from what I understand, no-view means quieter nights which we prefer. Very clean hotel. Whoever said that the breakfasts were small, I strongly disagree. The service was outstanding.

Dear Guest:
First of all, the entire staff working at the 1850 Boutique Hotel, we would like to thank for, choosing us during your visit to this magical Mexican city. And for taking the time to include so kind comments about us on Tripadvisor. Let me tell you that the original idea of the hotel, was to develop 20 rooms, and suites, each one completely different from an another, in order that every guest can choose that special room for him. Based on the atmosphere, style and decor. Starting from the English style, up going through to contemporary, french country and also minimalist.
We hope that in a near future, you visit us again and maybe you have enought time to visit our website, to choose one of our suites by your owne preference.
kindly regards.

The hotel is located on the zocolo and not on the street. We did not receive any instructions re how to locate hotel or get bags to the hotel. The cab driver from Leon airport did not know this hotel and dropped us a block away from the zocolo. Even if he dropped us at the best location, plan on dragging your bags 1/2 block and then inside hotel. Also, no one was available to help get bags up stairs to elevator when we arrived at the hotel. Nonetheless, the location is excellent, but I would suggest you arrange for bellman to meet your cab to pick up bags.

This hotel is very nicely decorated and appointed, very modern, with very friendly staff. Betty, the Concierge, is extremely knowledgeable, friendly and definitely makes the stay worth it. Could not ask for better service from staff when they are present. Excellent breakfast package with Valadez Cafe; complete breakfast package very good.

There is VERY limited closet space and no place long / tall enough to hang pants or dresses. In general, there is a poor use of space. We would have much preferred a full size bath with full closets vs so called sitting area, which only exists for sound buffer, from hotel traffic and noise. The noises from street and hotel were buffered by extra doors, which is very nice, but we could still hear voices, tv, etc. from the adjacent rooms. Also, there is no full size mirror in the room, no space on vanity around sink for tooth brushes, etc.

The water pressure is so low that you cannot wash and rinse off soap from your body, let alone shampoo. There were two large unevenly spaced steps from the bedroom to the bathroom that can be difficult if you have back problems or difficulties with steps, particularly in the dark, first night, etc. There is no door between the bathroom and bedroom so, for example, I was unable to hear the tv when my wife was drying her hair. There is very limited tv in English. No movie channels in English. Definitely agree w previous review re design vs function but in a pricey hotel like this you are paying for both and should have them.

There is a rank malodorous smell in the elevator that must be addressed with scented application of some type such as glade, fabreze, etc. As previously noted, wifi is very inconsistent.

Maybe these problems are growing pains that will be ironed out by the time you go, but despite these problems, this is definitely the best location and a fine hotel, if not the best, in Guanajuato.

Room Tip: Best views are facing the zocolo.

Although the location of the Hotel is pretty good and the presonnel is kind. It was unacceptable that there was no enough hot water to take a shower for two person in the room and we did not get any compensation for it. For a hotel that you are paying more than 150 Euros per night (taking in account the local prices) and not have hot watter was very disaponting.

Dear Guest , On behalf of the entire team working on 1850 , we asked a sincere apology . Let me tell you That the building, where the hotel was built , is a building that is listed as culturar heritage of humanity, for this reason and the age of construction (1850 ) the hotel can not have any large or heavy equipment and tanks to heat water at the top of the building. Each room has a separate electrical system for heating water . Unfortunately the heater broke down , which caused running out of hot wáter. We proceeded immediately to install a new heater. We know this does not solve your just upset . Believe me, day by day all the staff working at the hotel , gives their best effort, to try that every guest leaves completely satisfied with our service and our hotel, but in some occasions, there are events beyond our control , which detract from everything else. We reiterate our apologies . And hope your understanding .
