We really enjoyed this hotel. Had a large room (tight bathroom) overlooking the plaza. Very romantic to listen to music from your balcony. Had the feel of an older Mexico. Perfect location. Worse thing about room (hotel?), on television, only english speaking channel was FOX news, horrific choice. We drove there and parking was convenient, under hotel.

I had the chance to stay at Posada Santa Fe when we went to Guanajuato during Mexican Independence day. A colleague had booked rooms in advance, and we did not have any trouble in checking in.

The rooms and amenities were basic, and not what you would expect from a rated star hotel. Cleanliness was little wanting, as I saw strands of hair sticking to shower curtain etc in the bathroom. The staff was courteous and friendly, though language was bit of a problem as they did not speak English.

Breakfast in the restaurant was nice, but service was slow, and beverages were not that good. Musicians kept interrupting us, expecting a tip, and despite our repeated requests, waiters did not ask those musicians to move away.

The hotel is located in a building which used to house a consulate about 100 years back, and has lots of character. However, I strongly feel that the room interiors need a major renovation.

The Posada Santa fe Hotel is in a great location , we got room 27 on the first floor that was far from clean ,dirty carpet , dirty ceiling and fan.
The breakfast outside in front of the park was ok but the coffee was of poor quality.
We believe the waiter had a bad morning because everything we asked for was to much for him to do.
He was requesting for a tip even before , we could sign the bill....
This hotel has caracter but is in need of a big overhaul ...

Located right on the Jardin this hotel is beautiful and convenient to great shopping, site seeing and dining. we had a 3 nights for the price of 2 package that included 2 breakfasts and a city tour! Although we were given an interior room it had a window providing light and air. The room was small but very comfortable. The hotel has been beautifully restored and has a great deal of charm. The staff was very helpful and the 4 our city tour provided in our package was amazing. We had breakfast outside on the park each morning and all the choices were varied and delicious. We would definitely stay here again.

As part of a driving trip with Mexican friends, we stayed 2 nights at Hotel Posada Santa Fe. We had some difficulty finding the hotel but once we got on the right track there were signs which lead us to the rear portal where we found help in parking and unloading. The front of the hotel is on the square which can only be accessed by walking. The lobby area is fits one's idea of what "Old Mexico" should look like and was quite elegant. Our room was on the 2nd floor which is a bit maze like. It was clean and spacious but no AC or wifi access. We had been booked into a garden view room but unfortunately it only had a regular size bed so we changed to a room with 2 beds so we'd sleep better. We arrived in the late afternoon and walked around the square which seemed quite magical. It was full of local people, tourists and musicians with everyone having a good time. The rooms included breakfast which was excellent. Being a Starbucks fan the regular coffee was barely drinkable but I discovered you could ask for expresso which delicious and didn't cost any extra. The hotel has 3 floors with a rooftop deck which offers an excellent view of the surrounding city and the garden square. I'd recommend the hotel to anyone who likes to be close to the action and doesn't mind an older walk-up hotel without air conditioning. The ground floor lobby and restaurant is very classy. If the rooms were as good as the lobby I'd give this hotel a 5 star rating.

If I had read the reviews below I never would have stayed here, but we drove into Guanajuato reasonably late and this place looked good from a quick check of the website. We got the cheapest rooms, which had no air conditioning, and were out the back of the hotel. They overlooked a street which turned out to be really noisy at night (the front of the hotel looks much nicer and has better looking and more expensive rooms but would be even noisier) so spent a reasonably unconfortable night on their beds with the plastic mattress protector. The location is great, but there are loads of other places nearby so don't pick it for that. There was breakfast, which we took outdoors on the tables they had by the square and that was lovely but did not make up for the bad night's sleep. That said, we stayed a night and left for Hosteria Del Frayle down the road and around the corner. It was cheaper and nicer.
