The correspondence with the Truco 7 Hospederia via e-mail before our arrival was very cordial and amiable. The website showed charming, well cared for rooms. When we got there we were a little disappointed. There was nothing really wrong. Compared to other places that I have stayed in Mexico, it seemed a little expensive for the room. This is the first time I had been in Guanajuato so it is possible that it is a more expensive city than others in Mexico and I was expecting better quality. The bed was comfortable and things were generally clean but it was not spotless. The sheets, towels, etc. were clean but it was not sparkiing--dust around the baseboards, dust in the corners of the bathroom, etc. On the positive side, the location is great--just a minute's walk from the main square (Jardin). The view was nice as well. Like many rooms in Guanajuato it was a bit noisy at night what with the church bells and revellers leaving the bars (but I think that this is found throughout the center of Guanajuato). It seemed as if we were the only guests there which was fine. According to the website the Hospederia does not raise their prices during holidays or festivals. If so, then this might be a good spot during the Cervantino festival when many of the hotels raise their prices dramatically.
