This used to be a wonderful old building and still has a few traces of its former glory. The rooms have been modernized, this is a good thing since the prior owners did nothing about the rooms which were dark and dreary.
The pool area is terrific for kids, with a slide and a snack bar.
The dining room, which I believe is a franchise, was dull and uninspiring, as was the formerly fantastic Pozo bar, now very ordinary, has poor service and frequently is not open for business... We ate at the Jardin de la Union in Centro. Buffet breakfasts at the hotel were excellent.
The rooms are now bright clean and cheerful. They are also warm in the winter and cool in the summer thanks to the wonders of modern heating and air conditioning.
One note of interest was the noise level. The rooms have been fitted with doors which sound as if they were slamming anytime they are closed. On a busy weekend you might find this very annoying if you are a light sleeper.
All in all a good place to take kids. Very safe. It is on the pricey side.More
