“good location and not much more”
Reviewed 10 December 2013

Pros: location - in a quiet street, but close to Reforma, within a 15-minute walk from Zocalo. Nice decor of the restaurant and lobby. Bathrooms look nice and clean, rooms are big and refurbished, but wouldn’t say the décor is nice.
Cons: Hotel seems to be constantly fool of large groups, which makes it hard to get something for breakfast, or to get to the elevator in the morning. Rooms are very dark, pillows ridiculously high. The windows of most rooms don’t give you any view or light, and almost no ventilation, as they face a narrow “well” inside the building. Shower – typical American shower head stuck high in the wall splashes everywhere around, but not on you. Maybe if you are a tall American it is convenient. Last: you have to pay for the internet.
All in all – if the hotel was sold as a 3 star, I’d give it very good, but you have higher expectations on a 4*.

This hotel had been recently renovated in ~2007 and so looks pretty modern. So after seeing all the mixed reviews, I finally got the chance to visit it, so here we go...

Location:
First off the location of this hotel is 10/10, located one of Mexico city's most popular road (Reforma), it is situated right in the heart of Mexico city making traveling to different locations in the city much easier than other hotels.

Rooms:
Rooms were very clean and organized, all of them now include flat-screen TV's with around 20 channels. Washrooms were clean too and water pressure for the showers were very good which was a huge plus as not many hotels have this. Wi-Fi however was extremely poor, even the signal was strong throughout the hotel, the speed was lacking (0.01Mbps) and considering this is a business hotel it was really sad.

Security:
The hotel has its own security company that are constantly on watch, all rooms are key-card equipped, and entrances are monitored. Also the city's parliament building is located right beside it, meaning that in the event of a protest, the avenue/road (including the hotel) is of the first places to be secured.

Staff:
The staff were extremely helpful throughout our stay at the hotel and were grateful to help with any needs.
FOR THE ENGLISH SPEAKING PEOPLE: Even though majority of the guests of this hotel are Spanish speaking, there is always at least one staff member who speaks fluent english. They're very helpful and will always assist you in anyway they can.

Extras:
There is an OXXO (Convenience store) located directly opposite the hotel and should serve your basic everyday needs. There is also an open Mexican restaurant right around the corner and there is a mall located outside the avenue.

All in all this hotel is well done, excellent staff and rooms, but has poor internet. Would definitely recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: AVOID ROOMS FACING THE ROAD!, the traffic can be rather annoying, especially when your trying to get...

I stayed at this hotel on a tour and found it to be a decent place. Our room was clean and secure, although there was a strange window inconveniently placed in our shower stall. The water was also rather inconsistent in terms of pressure and heating. The breakfast food was good and the staff were helpful with our luggage. The area seemed fairly safe, although the streets outside could get dirty and smelly at the end of the day, but this is not surprising as it is fairly typical in the city.

To begin with as soon as we arrived there was a mishap. We arrived at the hotel about 1:30 pm after 6 hrs of flight and even when the check-in time is at 2:00 pm, the less that we expected was to have our room ready, since reservation was made and paid almost a month prior to our trip. The front-desk personnel told us that the room wasn't ready yet and asked us to wait (20 mins). We decided to take a walk to get familiar with the sorroundings returning to hotel about 25-30 mins. later and still the room wasn't ready. So we took another 15 mins. walk and seems that the room wasn't ready yet because they changed our room. We have to say that the bellboys, maid and waiters were very nice. The room was very confortable, nice bed, clean towels and toiletries were apprecited. The breakfast was good even when there isn't to much of choices. Walking distance to Reforma 222 (shoping mall), monuments, restaurants (La Pasadita across from hotel) is very nice. Try the steak called Arrachera or Tacos al Pastor they are great. At the Ciudadella (marketplace) you can find all kind of souvenirs, taxi will cost about $3.00. If you like coffee, is a most to go to "Gran Premio Cafe", take a left from the lobby and walk towards Insurgentes Ave., cross over Insurgentes and a block away at the left side you'll find it, (less than 5 min walk).

I thought it a very clean place and it appeared to be either new or recently refurbished. I cannot comment on the location as I did not get out at night (due to the murder of retired Mexican army general moments prior to my arrival. The nearby SEP resturante is excellent,

Room Tip: I was on the 2nd floor and the rooms were unexpectedly quiet.

This is a small five (5) floor hotel that offers a big bang for the buck. It is very well located in the midst of the two (2) most important avenues in Mexico City, Reforma & Insurgentes. Major hotels and restaurants along with many historical sites are in the surroundings. The Hotel is very clean and a very polite staff will help you with whatever your needs might be.
