Hampton Inn & Suites Mexico City - Centro Historico
Ranked #19 of 313 Hotels in Mexico City
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed 4 April 2014

I spent one night at the Hampton Suites on 5 febrero (that's the street not the date) and the bed was one of the most comfortable hotel beds I have slept in. This is not an economy hotel - more mid-range - but good value.

Extremely convenient hotel in the City close to the Historic Centre and the Zocalo.
We had a Suite which was extra large with all mod. cons.
24-hour tea and coffee available on the ground floor and also a good buffet breakfast.
2 Restaurants attached to the hotel which are also good value.

Room Tip: Standard rooms are a little small. Suite is a much better option

The location cannot be beat!!! A couple blocks from the Zocalo and Templo Mayor, surrounded by restaurants and a wonderful Pasteleria across the street. There is also a couple decent, quick dining options on the first floor of the hotel. The room itself was just like every other Hampton, but you won't be spending much time in there. The ceiling of the lobby is just breathtaking and the little know rooftop terrace on the 5th floor was a relaxing getaway at the end of the day. The staff is TOP NOTCH. They all speak English and are extremely helpful with anything you may need. We were in Mexico City and the surrounding area for 2 weeks and at the Hampton for our last 2 nights. I never thought I would say this about a Hampton, but it was a perfect end to a enlightening/educational trip to Mexico City.

Excellent location with non-tourist restaurants just outside the hotel door. Several tourist locations ie. goverment "palace" a quarter of a mile away and the "hop-on hop-off tourist bus is just a ten-minute walk.
The complementary breakfast ( always a plus ) is mediocre with mixed American/Mexican fare but there is plenty of it and enough to make it worthwhile.
The rooms are relatively spacious and the hotel is just like it American counterparts.
The staff is courteous and willing to provide insight into local attractions.
You could get a lot less by paying a lot more somewhere else...

Room Tip: Regardless of what you are told at the front desk, demand a room on the top floor. The street noise...

We picked this hotel based on reading many reviews and don't think we could have made a better choice. It's perfectly located in the Centro Historico just a couple of blocks away from Zocalo (the main square). We arrived early and the staff did everything they could to check us in before the check-in time of 3pm. The room was comfortable and clean as you would expect and the wifi worked perfectly (for as many devices as you want). The breakfast was included and buffet style - good toast, pastries, orange juice and waffles. We discovered the roof terrace on the 5th floor just before we left - sadly not high up enough for great views but a nice place to chill out!

The concierge who spoke perfect English helped us with a number of things including suggesting the best way to get to the Piramides - we ended up taking the bus which was significantly cheaper and really efficient. They also arranged a luxury taxi to take us to the airport on our departure for 200 pesos.

You really can't beat the location - it's close to the metro, square, the open top tourist bus station, shops, restaurants and a lot more. We'll probably be coming back soon!
