“Best Small Collection of Historical Art in the City”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 April 2012

Easily, my favorite small collection because it is walkable, not overwhelming and contains plenty of fantastic artwork from the Mexican colonial period, and some a bit older, right through the 19th century. With a lovely garden out back, it's not overwhelming, and doesn't make you feel like you're missing out on half the stuff because there is just so much. Instead, it's a collection that you can pretty much take in with part of an afternoon. There are some stunning pieces, lots of treasures and lots of really inspiring and captivating paintings, prints and sculptures.

Don't confuse this little museum with the UNAM Visual Arts graduate school, on the other side of Centro Historico. That one has about 8 names, one of which is the Antigua Academia de San Carlos, and they do have exhibitions and a variety of programs and events there, too.
