Service was 5 star, very accomodating. Hotel lobby is like a movie, very classic and beautiful. Location is fantastic for tourists to the city. Great food, great rooms, overall a 5 star experience.

This is a perfectly located hotel with stunning views of Mexico's historic Zocalo. Although the hotel is located directly on the central plaza, the rooms are quiet and darkened with effective floor to ceiling black-out drapes. The staff is warm and helpful. This a a stunning historic building with modern amenities and excellent in-hotel restaurants and lounges. I would recommend this hotel. It would be a dream hotel for a honeymoon.

It was my first travel in Mexico. I reserved a Room through Bookings.com after reading the reviews published on Tripadvisor.
At my arrival in the late evening I found a very well prepared receptionist, she was able to speak an excellent english so I didn't have problems with my poor spanish.
The hotel is more than beautiful, the Liberty Dome is wonderful and everything as a Belle Epoque fashion. All the furnitures and the moquette looks brand new.
The room was very big and clean, as well as the bathroom, equipped with all the necessary (I also found bathcoat, slippers and brush and toothpaste).
The wireless connection was very fast and I was able to use skype with my family in Italy without problems.
The room was also equipped with SAT TV, Iron and Coffee Machine, whilst at the first floor was available for the guests a well equipped Fitness Room.
The breakfast was very rich notwithstanding there was a menu "à la carte" instead of a buffet as in Europe. The quality of the fud was Excellent. I tried also the Restaurant on the 4th floor. Rich and very good dishes and amazing view of Zocalo Square.
Only onte thing to improve: more foreign and European Channels on the SAT TV.

Room Tip: The Zocalo is a bit noisy on Weekend evenings, ask for a room with view on internal court.

This was a one night stopover on our way to Selva Lacandona Chiapas. It is a lovely vintage hotel, Art Nouveau style. Reasonably priced for how beautiful and clean it is . Plush bedding, VERY clean. It is right accross the street from the Zocalo,we were blown away by the beautiful decorations at the hotel and in the Zocalo . Since we arrived early in the morning the staff was very accomodating, they allowed us to store our luggage there so we could tour the city . We asked them to have a van to pick up our family at the airport, he ended up being our guide the whole day and this guy was a walking History book. In one day he took us to the Basilica of our Lady of Guadalupe, Tlatelolco, and Teotihuacan. That night we even had time to venture out on our own, we took the subway to Garibaldi ( seperate review) which was tons of fun.

The rooftop bar offers spectacular views of downtown Mexico City. It's a terrific way to spend an afternoon drinking cervezas, catching up with friends, and recharging your batteries as you explore La Ciudad. The food is surprisingly good, too.

Kudos to manager Israel and server Juan for their advice and kind words.

My fiance and I had been travelling and staying in hostels. We decided to treat ourselves to some nice accomodation in Mexico City. We are SO glad we did! The building is stunning from the outside - old architecture. . Even though we may have looked a little 'travelled', the staff still treated us like every customer and were very friendly. When they showed us to our room we simply couldn't believe it. This was a perfect haven after a days sightseeing. We could watch tv in the living area or have a lovely relaxing bath, . You may think we were just very impressed with this having coming from hostels - yes, this was a lovely change but we have also stayed in top notch accommodation all across the world and this is one of our favourite places. There is a small business centre which was free to use and very handy when confirming our flights and printed boarding cards. The breakfast was simple but delicious and all the staff friendly especially Mr. rafael

Thank you for your comment, for us it is very important in order to improve our service and make your stay satisfactory, also we will send their friendly references to the appropriate personnel. Our Grand Hotel is located in the heart of the city, centrally located, it has a style "Nouveau" and a beautiful stained glass "Tiffany" that give a touch of elegance. You can also enjoy a great view in the terrace of the zócalo and enjoy a delicious brunch. We will always be at your service, happy to be counting with its visit.

This hotel is beautiful! We wowed very time we walked into the spacious lobby and looked up at the tiers of balconies and the wonderful stained glass roof - we never tired of looking at it. The rooms were very comfortable, the roof terrace bar a great spot for a pre dinner margarita overlooking the Zocalo. The breakfasts were very tasty, and most important of all, the staff were very pleasant, helpful, and accommodating. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: Ask for a quiet room if you find street noise a problem. We had a room overlooking Calle 16 Septiemb...

It is noteworthy decoration that counts Gran Hotel Ciudad de Mexico, as the stained glass Tiffany, as it is a great work of art to light and visual senses.
