“Not well maintained ”
Reviewed 29 June 2014 via mobile

Relatively close to everything which is handy but the room is not well maintained. Our bathroom window was broken so swung open constantly allowing others in neighbouring buildings to see in and the glass pane was cracked. Beds a bit too hard for me and it was a very noisy hotel at night time.

We spent two nights here as part of our bus tour to Oaxaca. This is a 2-3 star hotel and it delivered what we expected. The rooms are clean but the furniture dated. The bed was comfortable. The hotel was quite noisy at night because of the way it was constructed. Light sleepers may have problems. Very good location to visit the historical center of Mexico and close to the hop on hop off bus route.

this is decent as a stopover but don't raise your expectations too high and you'll be fine. it's got some nice perks, supermarket in the vicinity, clean, basic amenities that won't leave you wanting and friendly staff. the room's ok and the wifi strong. it's a little dated for our modern tastes but friendly on the wallet.

We stayed here as part of a tour group in December 2013. The room was a bit shabby and a bit tired, but we had read the reviews so were prepared for much worse! It suited our needs just fine as a base to explore the city. The location was good – walking distance to Chapultepec Park, the Zocalo etc, and directly next door to a supermarket (and ATM) which was really handy. We ate breakfast at the hotel and, while nothing special, it was perfectly adequate for an early morning meal before heading to the bus station. That said, they served the most delicious freshly squeezed orange juice!

All in all, a decent budget option if you are looking for a ‘no-frills’ central place to crash.

Room was ok cleaniness-wise, but couldn't see anything in the room once the sun went down... lighting in the room was so poor!!

Wifi signal was weak in my room, but gets better the closer you are by the lobby area.

There's a decent supermarket right close to the hotel, a few doors down and so great for getting supplies or breakfast (fresh bakery inside).

Location-wise, a good walk to the historical centro area... 25min approx. There's a couple of metro stations under 10mins walk away.

Room was cheap... but bear in mind that you get what you pay for. For a little more, I would consider other options.

I'd read mixed reviews on here but had a great stay at the Mallorca. The positives:
1. Good, strong wifi signal (I was on the first floor)
2. Really clean
3. Friendly staff - especially the bell boy/concierge Raul. I hope his managers read this. He couldn't have been more helpful
4. Good location close enough to Centro Historico (about a half hour walk) or near transport, but far enough away to not have too much street noise. I visited another hotel right on the Zocalo and the noise from the spruikers would have driven me crazy staying there.
5. Clean bathroom with good water pressure and hot water

The negative:
Really the only negative was that the walls were pretty thin so I could hear the tv in the next room and even the guy snoring in the morning.

I've read other reviews complaining that the bed was hard. Yes it was but to be honest that really didn't bother me as I would rather it be hard than too soft. My experience so far in Mexico is that the beds are always hard.

I'd definitely recommend this hotel if you are looking for a budget option in Mexico City.
