Very confusing check in! Got a 9th floor room and entered a very strangly modern room. The bath was enclosed in clear glass which afforded no privacy, It had a very heavy sliding glass door that was off the track and only gave a small entry to the bath. There was no enclosure for the shower on the interior, which soaked the toilet paper each time you showered. To use the toilet, your legs were up against the tub. Hot water went off twice in the four times I showered leaving only cold water. You can't adjust the shower head, fastened to the 8ft. ceiling. You have to be under the shower when turning on as the cold water rains down on you, Only comfortable chair in a dark corner near closet. No TV remote in room, you must sign one out at the desk. I would not return to this hotel.

I stayed at this hotel for 2 nights, sharing a room with a friend. Just as well we are good friends, the walls of the bathroom/toilet are made of frosted glass - you could see everything! That was the only thing I found bad/bizarre about this hotel. The room was clean and tidy, no sign of bugs etc. The shower head was a little clogged so it didn't work great. We did have trouble with the key not opening the door one morning but the staff fixed it straight away. There was a loose plug socket but it seemed safe enough and worked. I agree with others that the photos used are a little misleading - the hotel would have looked great and brand new in the 70's. If you have problems with altitute, the restaurant on the top (11th) floor might not be great for you. Over all I have no complaints, the staff were helpful and the hotel was clean, if in need of a revamp.

Well, for starters, they must have taken their pictures decades ago. According to reviews, they have been remodeling for 3 years now. They were still remodeling in March 2009~!
I dont know where to start. The front desk try's to be helpful but mostly do not speak english. The key did not work in the door most of the time. It took us 5 - 10 minutes each time to get the door open. The beds are like rocks. The carpeting had very large holes in it and was so dirty that you did not want to walk on it with your bare feet. The light switch covers were either missing completely or just hanging there with bare wires exposed. The cold air return was rusted and very dirty. The ad said that the room had air conditioning. None of them have air conditioning. If you want A/C, you need to cal the front desk, they then send a man up with a portable air conditioning unit that sounds like a mac truck running all night. It has to be vented though the window. UGH! come on, people get real here! The bathroom was only adequate and except for that, the fact that we had no toilet paper or Kleenexes in the room from the beginning was no surprise. The TV was from the 80s and amazingly enough still worked....on three channels only~
The neighborhood left much to be desired. I do not know how they are still in business but they are. If you have absolutely no money and are desperate for a place to stay and do not have a car to sleep in....then stay here.....but I recommend your car first~!
Donna G - St. Louis Missouri....will never stay here again.~~~

I stayed at this hotel on a one night layover from Brazil to California. The neighborhood cannot be beat. It is in the center of everything. The area is very safe as is the security at the hotel. I felt completely comfortable walking around the area at night...the sidewalks were crowded with well dressed people going out to one of the many nice restaurants nearby. The room I had on an upper floor was clean, quiet and had all standard amenities. The decor was on the old side. I would put the Del Angel in the same category as a Best Western. The bed was too firm...even more than Brazillian beds. The shower was hot and strong. The bathroom was all marble. I did not have the breakfast as I had a very early morning flight.
The Hotel del Angel is a perfectly reasonable choice if you are wishing to save some money. It is not the Marriott at $250. It is a decent, clean, well managed hotel at about $60. Do the complainers about this hotel expect Marriott or Sheraton quality at this price? If the hotel redecorates the rooms, they would be $150/night.

This hotel exceeded my expectations. After reading some of the negative reviews I was expecting the Bates Motel. The room was clean and comfortable and had amenities such as an in-room safe, iron, cable TV, and an air conditioner (a window unit that did a good job cooling the room). The staff was cordial and helpful. The location is perfect, with interesting and lively restaurants nearby. It's a good deal for what you pay. I do not understand the negative comments about the quality of this hotel. If you expect a five-star hotel, then by all means pay $300 a night and stay at the Nikko or the W.

Not too bad for a $60 last-minute booking -- the location is pretty good (on a street with various apparently good restaurants), and you can walk to the "zocolo" in 20-30 minutes (or take a cab). Nevertheless, I would advise you shop around -- I am sure you could get something better. Bathroom was pretty nice with lots of hot water, but the room overall was a bit shabby and breakfast very slow.

Real bad hotel. Spend the extra 10$ for a good hotel. We checked out and checked into a random hotel nearby named "maya land". For 46$ (after bargening) we got a clean hotel in a good location. The staff at the new hotel were very good.
