Beautiful grounds and charmingly decorated rooms make this hotel a bargain. It is truly a great spot for the traveler who may feel overwhelmed by the intensity of Mexico City. The staff is extremely helpful and knowledgeable. They were able to answer any questions regarding directions, restaurant recommendations, or finding business services in the neighborhood. They were also able to arrange a private taxi for touring outside the city with very short notice. The neighborhood offers a good selection of restaurants and is pretty quiet at night.

Convenient, clean, inexpensive, great breakfast, helpful staff with insight into travelers problems.
Only negative - our bed was way too hard, and I kinda like a stiff mattress.
Good experience, I would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: We had a small room, so I suggest requesting a room with a king sized bed.

The quiet tranquility of Casa Gonzalez after a busy, fascinating day of touring through Mexico City was greatly appreciated. The gardens, the sitting areas, the dining room and the top patio areas are lovely. The room was pleasant and my room had a wonderful bathtub. Having been deprived of a bath(as opposed to a shower) for so long this was just a huge bonus. The hotel is well located with the anthropological museum and central historical areas within walking distance. It also had many restaurants both local and chains enough to satisfy any appetite close by.

Room Tip: There is no pool. I couldn't change this so I left it as excellent.

Very sorry, we will not be putting in a pool any time soon (we have no space). But the Sheraton a couple of blocks away has a pool you can use on your next visit.

Most important to me was the SAFETY of the area. We walked around at all hours, and since it's by the embassies and a great area with lots of restaurants and bars. I loved it~ My grandparents used to stay here back in the 1940s.

however, if you have allergies, I recommend NOT STAYING in the main, older part of the hotel. Stick to the garden area where there is no wood. I have allergies and antique furniture kills me. They were absolutely wonderful and so helpful, everything you need for a great holiday!
I would stay here again and recommend them to anyone!

Room Tip: Stay by the gardens by the breakfast area, it might be a bit noisier since people pass by a lot, but...

Friendly, helpful staff in a safe location which is fairly central. The rooms (we had 2 as stayed at the beginning and end of holiday) are basic but comfortable enough. (But then it is cheap!) The first was a little noisy as it overlooked the road. Best to have a room overlooking the courtyard. The garden/courtyard area is pleasant and a welcoming place to sit after the bustle of Mexico City.

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking the courtyard/garden are quieter

My husband and I first stayed at Casa Gonzales in 2004. We have stayed in other districts depending on what we are doing in Mexico City, but if you want to stay in a good central location, Casa Gonzales is it! The breakfast is now offered as a choice, plus there is a menu. The dining room is lovely and in the morning we enjoy the opportunity to meet other guests. The garden rooms are nice, but even a room on the street is not terribly noisy. Very clean.

Room Tip: Garden rooms are nicest.
