“Picturesque hotel..”
Reviewed 19 September 2013

The main lobby and the public areas are beautiful.. the rooms are small but comfortable.
The carpet on our rooms was dirty as hell.. its like the vacuums they use don't suck air at all. The bathroom on the other hand was neat and clean, so were the sheets.. but NOT the piece of fabric that goes underneath the mattress that helps to cover the bottom part of the bead.. those were just disgustingly nasty.
The hotel is nicely located and has a Sanborns restaurant and shop downstairs next to the lobby. There are plenty of meal choices to choose from around the nearby streets, try Bisquets Obregon from the Plaza across the street for breakfast.

Room Tip: If not a heavy sleeper don't stay in the rooms that face the street.

This is a fantastic hotel, we liked it so much our first time, we have rebooked it for our upcoming trip in 2 weeks. It is in a very good area, it is quite, and it is absolutely beutiful. The staff are great too, the only draw back is that it dosen't have a pool.

The hotel is clean, breakfast is excellent. The staff is friendly and nice. Very good price and location. Good restaurants nearby. The metro is also a block away. We spent 5 nights at the hotel, including Christmas. Everything was perfect.

We stayed at the Hotel Geneve for two nights. The lobby , library and patio breakfast area were lovely. The decor plush and inviting. It felt more like a boutique hotel. Having breakfast available until 11 was very civilized and I appreciated it! Great omelettes. Their US an airport shuttle that can be arranged. Our hotel taxi driver Pack, was precious and full of appreciated information.
The room was ok. It was large enough to easily hold two beds. It was clean. It just wasn't special! Personally I'm always happy to see a room safe!
I'd go back again. I loved the location and staff.

Situated in Zona Rosa in Mexico city this hotel is cozy and nice . The staff is very friendly and helpful. It is strategically located within walking distance of all the museums and the zoo and a souvenir shop is close by. There many nice restaurants and is across the street fron Chili's and Starbucks. They arrange very nice tours to the historic sites. A visit to Taxco, an old silver mining town is a must, although the drive is a bit long.
A very nice place to stay.

Room Tip: All the rooms are about the same

We stayed at Hotel Geneve for 3 nights. It is about a 20 minute drive from the airport if traffic is not too bad. American Airlines unfortunately misplaced our suitcases upon our arrival which did not get us off to a good start in Mexico city! Thankfully there is a small mall and kiosk opposite the hotel where I could buy the basics and some clothing. The concierge were brilliant in contacting AA and trying to find out what was happening with the mess-up.

The lobby area is literally out of this world - everything that previous guests have said is true. The sitting area is adorned with huge water colour paintings, numerous shelves of old books with brass trimmings, antique furnishings which capture you like an enchanting fairy tale the minute you walk through the door. There are several glass cabinets with exhibits in, recording items from previous famous guests, old hotel keys, shoes and clothes from various generations dating back to Victorian era to even some of the old hotel safes! The conservatory restaurant is equally as interesting with plants stretching across the wall space like rainforest wallpaper, high ceiling of glass letting light flood in, it's classic and sumptuous...it really doesn't need the poor birds caged in the ghastly aviaries.
The food was good, well, we enjoyed it at the time. My husband was quite unwell for a few days after our dinner there, so I would recommend staying away from medium/rare beef unless you have a stomach of lead.

The rooms....lacked sparkle, simply did not match the decor of the lobby! There were two beds, instead of a double, being so tired and fed up from lack of luggage, we couldn't be bothered to complain so kept the room. It was dark, dingy and a pretty miserable space. The colours made it look drab and out-dated. I was glad we spent most of our time out of the room visiting the city.
They really need to invest in tea making facilities in the room, or maybe I am just too English and can't live without a brew within hands reach?!

All in all it's a great hotel to visit Mexico city. Good location in Zona Rosa as it's not far from the red tour bus stop! The staff are friendly and helpful (probably even more so if you speak spanish! we did try!!)

We stayed at the Geneve for 4 days in July 2013. Amazing historic decor and furnishings and a great level of customer service. Interesting and charming breakfast room. It is located in the heart of a major tourist district, the Zona Rosa, near tourist attractions, shopping areas and some good restaurants. Also near an important subway station. Rooms are somewhat basic, but very clean and comfortable.
