“The perfect place for me.”
Reviewed 10 March 2014

I travel quite a bit and spend quite a bit of time looking for accommodations that suit me. El Patio 77 is perfect! it's near anything you would want to access, very affordable, friendly people, great breakfasts but best of all, they have maintained the beauty of the original architecture while infusing it with artistic interest. When abroad I stay clear of big, modern hotels because my desire is to feel the country that I am in. El Patio 77 does that in an affordable, comfortable way.

This place has a lot of things going for it:
- The house is beautiful with lots of nice design touches, and the atmosphere is really welcoming and relaxing
- Rooms are generously proportioned and comfortable (we stayed in the Chihuahua suite)
- The owners and staff are exceptionally friendly and make a huge effort to help their guests make the most of their stay
- Breakfasts are delicious and change daily

A couple of considerations:
- The location is quite central and we liked the neighbourhood (it's quiet and residential), but it's not in walking distance to anything interesting. Every time you leave the house you have to take the metro or a taxi, whether it's for sightseeing or to go for dinner. If you stay in Condesa you have lots of good restaurants on your doorstep, and you can walk to some of the sights such as Chapultepec park.
- If you stay in one of the suites with en-suite bathroom, you should be aware that the toilet is just an open-top stall in the middle of the lounge room, so if you want some privacy and olfactory insulation you have to use one of the shared bathrooms.

Room Tip: The en-suite bathrooms in the suites can be of limited value (see above)

Hello
Thank you for taking a few minutes and write something about your experience with us.
We are happy to read that you liked the house, the deco, your room and the staff.
Every day we do our best to give you the best meals, recommendations and treat.
Talking about that "we do not have something interesting in walking distance" we think you´re being unfair. We gave you a map with a tour of the neighborhood where you can find places like the Art Gallery Hilario Galguera, The Monument to the Revolution(which is also a museum), the Cine Opera(old cinema in ruins), The Chopo Museum(Modern Art and worldwide known), a couple of ancient Churches, the Kiosko Morisko(touristic place) and the Geology Museum and a lot of libraries.
We also gave you a map with THIRTEEN options where you can have your meals nearby.
Maybe you preffer the touristic places where you can find the hustle and bustle and where all the people go. We give to our guests different options not only the same:Condesa,Roma and Centro Histórico.
And we don´t think it´s a big deal that the toilet is just an open-top stall,at Chihuahua suite you have 4 huge windows to have enough ventilation and you also have perfume at the bathroom. If this is not enough to dissimulate the odor we do not what it is.
Kind regards from México

Our first trip to Mexico City and we are looking forward to our next. Adrian and staff made our stay at El Patio 77 seamless from the private taxi service to our afternoon chat after a fun filled site seeing day. Each morning we started our day with a wonderful breakfast and the best coffee. I love the layout and location of El Patio 77, we felt very centrally located to all the different districts to see. The neighborhood is very safe. On Sunday we walked to Paseo de la Reforma and joined the locals walking and riding bikes. Great shower with plenty of hot water. If you are looking for a great experience then you have found the place to stay as El Patio 77 is the best.

Room Tip: We stayed in Oaxaca suite great windows and lots of space.

This was our first time to Mexico City and El Patio 77 was a wonderful home base. We stayed in the Oaxaca suite which was huge. The room had big windows to let the sunlight and air flow thru. A nice shower with plenty of hot water and very good water pressure. Every morning we had a GREAT breakfast before we headed out on all of the sightseeing. The property and staff are top notch! If you are there on a Sunday walk down to Paseo de la Reforma and walk/jog with all the Chilangos. The city closes down the street to only cyclist and pedestrians. It was a great experience. Thank you Adrian for the Limes....It made our evening cocktail hour much better!!

I love everything about El Patio, from the garden entrance, to the staff, to the delicious breakfast and our huge Chiiapas Suite. A couple of big perks about this place

1-located 3-4 blocks from the metro
2-neighborhood has a local bohemian vibe
3-staff was extremely helpful
4-love the decor and vibe
5-clean rooms

Con:
Being that they do recycle their water, the water pressure was low and it did take a few minutes for the water to get hot. It did get hot though. I know they are working on their plumbing system which will make this place a special place to stay in the big city.

The next time we're there we will definitely stay here again.

Thank you Vero and for the rest of the crew!

Room Tip: For the price, we loved Suite Chiapas, next time though, with two people, we will probably need a sm...

Hello
Thank you very much for your review.
We are happy to read that you loved our B&B and the staff.
We don´t know exactly what do you mean when you write that "the neighborhood is not so good"
San Rafael neighborhood is an up coming one,in here is really safe(we have police officers and patrols day&night),in 4 years we have never had a complain about somehing that went wrong around here with any guest, we have a lot of restaurants around here and also art galleries.
Maybe you mean that is not so fancy...

Gorgeously renovated house in a quirky but fun neighbourhood of Mexico City. The service is fantastic - both the owners and staff are always available and frequently go the extra mile. You feel as though you are a friend coming to visit, and not just a customer. Each room comes with a binder of information on nearby restaurants and services.

The breakfast is included and is delicious - it varies from day to day. And good coffee!

Though it is not in the most central neighborhood if you're looking to see the sights, it is a short (5 min) walk from the Metro, and taxis are all around. There are several tasty and cheap restaurants nearby.
