“Excellent Hotel!”
Reviewed 30 April 2014

Great hotel. Booked a room with a King bed. Bed and pillows very comfortable. Room was clean, modern, well maintained. Close to some good restaurants as well as cheaper options. Reasonably close to transportation. Hotel Staff are very nice, helped us book a car and driver our first day.

We booked ten nights with the possibility of changing hotels during our vacation but there was no reason at all to change locations because this hotel met our expectations and the friendly, attentive staff kept us satisfied during our whole stay. The room was clean and the bed was oh-so-comfy. The one thing that I didn't like was that coffee in the room was only complimentary for the first two nights, then it was 40 pesos. Just a little bit annoying. Note that the hotel cards needed daily re-programming at the front desk as they apparently 'de-magnatized'. However, this faulty key system is normal at many hotels. Also, they state clearly on the website that internet access will cost $20 usd per day. We didn't intend on buying internet, but we found a loophole; the hotel allows you to temporarily use the internet if you ask them for a password. It allows you two hours and sometimes I asked for two at a time! The hotel restaurant was on the pricier side, but the staff were friendly and one in specific, Guadalupe, was extra sweet. The two head concierge were extremely helpful in satisfying all our questions and concerns on a daily basis. The pool on the roof was a great location, but unfortunately not an actual swimming pool but more of a wading pool. The gym was very clean and the equipment seemed new. I'd stay here again for sure!

I stay here often for business. The staff is very friendly and the installations are quite nice. The beds are very soft (not a fan). The hotel two blocks away from Reforma Avenue which is one of the main sites in the city.

I recommend this hotel, the price and value are very good.

we reserved for 6 nights and left earlier
i made the reservation on their reservation page, the night we arrived they did not find it...

the room is very small, when we opend our suitcases there was not much room to move around
the furniture and style is rather outdated, dark brown was cool in the 80ies, 90ies...
we did not like the size of the room and changed later to a master suite
the internet did not work properly in all of the rooms
the aircon can not be regulated in temperature only very cold and you hear it all the time

we tried the restaurant it was just okay

we checked the gym: what people call a gym!!!??? sorry

the style, decoration, the color of the hotel is darkbrown, the hallways are so dark (as a supernervous woman i would freak), the carpets are "couleur de mumble" = they last forever but they should have been exchanged the very first day

all together i would rate the hotel a low class 5 star hotel

Room Tip: no way can't give you a recomendation

This place is entirely pleasantly unexpected. The reviews I have read appear to describe a hotel in an alternate universe. The rooms: pleasant, clean, with luxury amenities eg satellite TV and toiletries. Free wifi in the lobby, a clean pleasant roof top pool. Staff that is generally helpful ; the best are the phone line from your room for help, the concierge, and the bell staff. Even the front desk staff, when not overrun with pouting and complaining tourists are pleasant.
This is Mexico, the country. Has come a long way in terms of maintaining infrastructure , and still has a ways to make it into the upper crust. But compared to many US hotels, the Galeria Plaza works well, is very clean, and entirely pleasant . This combined with very reasonable rates , make for an excellent value . Btw, the quiet room we requested when booking, turned out to be just that- quiet and peaceful.
Overall, pleasantly surprised. Yes would definitely come again.

Room Tip: Ask for a quiet room when booking.

If you want a hotel that looks beautiful but nothing works, this is the one for you! This should be a first class hotel, but it suffers from lack of maintenance and poor management. First they lost our reservation, the front desk was not very accommodating (actually couldn't care less about our situation),our air conditioner didn't work well, the electricity shorted out when I plugged in the hair dryer, what few outlets were in the room were falling out of the wall. Food, like the room, was very expensive but very average in quality. The room was very clean, the maids very competent , but not enough of them. Our room wasn't made up til 5:30 pm.The concierge was very good. They should have him running the hotel!

This ex-Westin hotel has seen better days!room maintenance needs some attention. We arrived late, were given a room without a key for the safe box, changed to a digital safe room but overlooked a very noisy disco, changed again around midnight but LED light over desk flashed every 90 seconds ALL NIGHT! Changed room again to a junior suite, which was OK for the next four nights. The bar drinks and food menus were limited but generally good for our late arrival on our first night, and the breakfast buffet was fine, for its type. The staff were generally helpful and the concierge staff good for booking restaurant and theatre facilities, but they did seem to have their personal taxi preferences at differing prices. Front desk was helpful in getting the right room eventually with a safe box that worked, but it seems half the safe keys are missing! The Wi-Fi worked intermittently but required constant repeat of password. The hotel's location in the Zona Rosa is a good feature, much in walking distance and adequate supply of taxis for further afield. In general, an OK experience in a major capital city.

Room Tip: Make sure you do not overlook the all-night disco and are as high as possible to avoid street noise.
