“Comfy rooms, friendly staff, weird wifi”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 July 2014

The rooms are big and comfy, and the amenities are good - good TV, cable, iron and ironing board, desk. However, the wifi is really weird - you have to ask for a new code every day, and a different code for each device, so this can get a bit annoying! The room service was good, quick and friendly staff, however the housekeeping was not always good for the bathroom - for example, soap not replaced, shower cap not replaced, etc. Overall it was fine though, no big complaints.

Stayed here in beginning of June for five nights for business. It was relatively good area in Zona Rosa and many things close by.

I have to say that the maid service is a little lackluster. One of the days, the maid just tossed the wash cloths in a mess by the sink and she put the do not disturb is on my door so she wouldn't have to do turn down. I think of the 5 nights, she managed to do 2 nights of turndown and skipped the rest. The tossing of the washcloths by the sink was quite disappointing. They did not vacuum, there was hair in the bathroom. I do believe part of the job description for the maid is to "clean" the rooms. I think management needs to retrain some of their cleaning staff. I was going to notify management, however it wasn't worth it. So if you are management, and you need to know what room i was in, just respond to this review. Pool area was small, the halls to the room from the elevators are very dark as they have the lights barely on.

Room Tip: As long as you don't have the maid I had, you may be okay.

I recently spent six nights in Mexico City, three nights at each of two separate hotels. The first hotel we stayed at was the Galeria Plaza which is located in the very quiet neighborhood of Roma. The second hotel I stayed at was a short walk away from the central plaza.

The rooms in both hotels were approximately the same price however in terms of value for money, the Galeria was a firm last place.

Firstly you need to pay for wifi and it's not cheap - $50 for three days, $20 for one. Personally, I think it's scandalous to turn up at a hotel only to find you have to pay a hefty fee for internet access. It should be included in the rate of the room as nowadays it's a necessity for travelers and business people alike.

Secondly breakfast (which was not included in the the price of the room) wasn't cheap. In addition, after the first night, you have to pay for coffee sachets. I have never come across this before.

The hotel rooms are standard American style i.e. characterless but entirely functional. The standard room I had was very small and the bed uncomfortably hard. I didn't find the hotel staff as friendly and as helpful as others did.

On the positive side, it did have a pool.

In summary, shop around as there are better deals elsewhere where you can get a 2-room suite which includes free wifi, breakfast, water and coffee sachets. It's also wise to be security conscious here.

Stayed for a total of 5 nights in late April. Rooms were clean and the service was generally efficient. What was especially special was Jorge who leads the concierge team. He was patient with all my queries about restaurants and Mexican food. He followed up on my reservations very efficiently and his restaurant recommendations were spot on. On my last day when I was checking out, he surprised me with a bottle of piquin. I had enquired about where to purchase it, but as he rightly anticipated, I did not get round to actually purchasing it and he took the initiative to prepare it for me. It's the special touch which makes a holiday memorable! Thank you Jorge!

Would highly recommend. Rooms are spacious, quiet and nicely decorated. Nice rooftop pool. Very friendly and accommodating staff. Reasonable priced bar and restaurant on-site. Great location in the middle of Zona Rosa. Would definitely return.

Great hotel. Booked a room with a King bed. Bed and pillows very comfortable. Room was clean, modern, well maintained. Close to some good restaurants as well as cheaper options. Reasonably close to transportation. Hotel Staff are very nice, helped us book a car and driver our first day.

We booked ten nights with the possibility of changing hotels during our vacation but there was no reason at all to change locations because this hotel met our expectations and the friendly, attentive staff kept us satisfied during our whole stay. The room was clean and the bed was oh-so-comfy. The one thing that I didn't like was that coffee in the room was only complimentary for the first two nights, then it was 40 pesos. Just a little bit annoying. Note that the hotel cards needed daily re-programming at the front desk as they apparently 'de-magnatized'. However, this faulty key system is normal at many hotels. Also, they state clearly on the website that internet access will cost $20 usd per day. We didn't intend on buying internet, but we found a loophole; the hotel allows you to temporarily use the internet if you ask them for a password. It allows you two hours and sometimes I asked for two at a time! The hotel restaurant was on the pricier side, but the staff were friendly and one in specific, Guadalupe, was extra sweet. The two head concierge were extremely helpful in satisfying all our questions and concerns on a daily basis. The pool on the roof was a great location, but unfortunately not an actual swimming pool but more of a wading pool. The gym was very clean and the equipment seemed new. I'd stay here again for sure!
