“Central location”
Reviewed 6 March 2011

Great location right in the Zocolo. Seemed safe enough to me, to walk about, but always be alert.
However is not a quiet location by any means, day or night. Aircon is also extreamly loud.
Room fine, clean and tidy and everything works -although a bit tired looking.
Tried the open top bus yesterday (hop on hop off) , of some of bigger city centre sites and good value at 9Euro.
No swiming pool or place to relax, but as this really is down town only to be expected.
Overall great value for a central hotel in Mexico City.

The hotel is located in the historical Zocalo of Mexico City. This location makes the house attractive for city holidays as well as for business meetings. In addition to the clean and comfortable rooms, especially the breakfast buffet can be recommended, which is located at the roof of the hotel built. Thus provides an excellent view of the of Mexico City. The hotel has in general an excellent price-performance ratio!

I had picked this hotel because of its location...right on the Zocalo..it did not disappoint!

If you are on a first-time visit to Mexico City, this hotel will cater to all your needs. I was able to access public transit, secure an authorized taxi or walk to many of the locations I had hoped to see during my whirl-wind 4 day stop in this facinating city.

Be aware that most rooms are very small...not a problem for me - a solo traveller....but may be a consideration to others. Kudos to the housekeeping personnel: rooms were clean & very well-maintained ...with all the amenities one would expect of the Holiday Inn franchise.

While the 6th floor restaurant offered a stunning view, the food was just "edible" - a major shock for me after experiencing the varied delights of Oaxacan cuisine in the month prior to arriving in D.F..

Staff & service: degree of service was inconsistent and varied with individuals providing it. Ranged from exceptional (tourist desk in lobby) to uninterested (particularly in late afternoon & evening for personnel at reception desk & with some restaurant personnel)

Good choice & very good value for the location.

Stayed here for two nights at the end of a three week trip to Mexico and was thoroughly dissapointed! The hotel itself is lovely - the rooms are wonderful, we had a suite with a huge jacuzzi in the room, and a view right over the Zocalo, looking out to the Cathedral, but unfortunately the service was so poor it really let the hotel down. We arrived at 4pm and was met by a very unhelpful, grumpy and rude female receptionist. She informed us that our room was not ready, without even a hint of an apology, we didnt mind too much as we had only arrived from an internal flight, but if we'd just arrived in Mexico city after a 10 hr flight we'd have been pretty upset! When our room was finally ready we didnt have hot water until the end of our second day's stay. We had to report this a total of 7 times to reception and were told they were too busy to fix it. Again no apology. The roof top bar/dining area is lovely and the food is OKish. Breakfast is OK, not great. It was a pity as the hotel is in such a great location, and the rooms are lovely - most of the porters were also thoroughly charming, just a shame about the receptionist and general lack of customer service. I also thought the hotel was incredibly overpriced for what it is. I wouldnt recommend this hotel to anyone!

This was my second stay here & am planning my third for later this year.
I don't think there is a better location in Mexico City, right at the Zocalo & the views from the rooftop restaurant are fantastic.
The staff are always friendly & helpful.
On both of my stays my room has been good - both times a good sized room & the bathroom is very nice with all the amenities.

We were afraid to book this hotel at first because many reviews were negative on the room being too small. Took a chance, we booked it. Fabulous, we were not in Mexico to stay in the room any way, so it was just right for us. Clean and roomy enough for us. Only issue we had was that the bathroom is hooked up to the TV, very odd to us. The location of the hotel was right in the center of city and has readily access to the subway. No car needed.

We stay 4 nights in the Holiday Inn Zocalo, we reserve 2 rooms, one it was very small, but the beds were very comfy. The other room was bigger but it was a little dark.
The breakfast was excellent, and the terrace has the best view of the Zocalo. We also had dinner there and it was really good too, and at night the Zocalo illuminated is breathtaking.
I really loved the service of the concierge they were really helpful, we wanted to go to the Hard Rock Cafe and they tried to get us a table there, they couldn't beacuse it was a private event. Also the taxi service that the hotel has is very cheap and is a flat fare.
The location is amazing walking distance from restaurants, stores and the Metro, that is very useful. We went to a concert at the Palacio de los Deportes at took the Metro to got there, very safe and cheap.
Overall, it is a great hotel, with small rooms, but great services, great location and very good food.
