As monuments go, this one is fantastic. It has a great presence and is very well kept. However, a very knowledgeable (& well educated) older Mexican friend told us how the story of the boys is just that - a story. It was created to motivate and inspire, and afterall, we all know 'it is the victors who write history'.
Never the less, it's a wonderful tale, and the monument is worth visiting if you're in the area, and the park is definitely worth exploring - probably one of my favourite city parks I've ever been to.
The monument only takes minutes to enjoy, but the park can be explored over a whole day if you combine it with the zoo, the museum, a bike ride, walk round the lake, etc etc etc!
