“Ok for a certain population”
Reviewed 23 June 2013

This hotel (hostel) has rooms for large groups as well as traditional rooms. For the price and location I think it was ok for a quick overnight stay if you are the kind of traveler who carries a large camping backpack everywhere you go and are trying to "find yourself" or escape from something and meet similar minded people from around the world. In that case, it is the perfect place for you; for others, the hostel environment might be a little odd.

The traditional hotel rooms are small. There is no air conditioning. There was a leak coming from somewhere in the bathroom that created a permanent puddle behind the toilet. The walls and large windows do not insulate sound so you will hear conversations and other activities coming from adjoining rooms, the lobby, and the street. The rooms is very basic. It has a bed, a small dresser, and two boxes with drawers that are supposed to be side tables but look like very uncomfortable chairs. There is a safe in the room.

The shower has a wall made of glass blocks and there is mildew between the blocks. The window in the bathroom is large and while open there are certain rooms above and at the correct angles from which someone could enjoy a free show of your lower body, at least. The sink is wider and deeper than most, which is a plus.

The hotel claims to have wifi. It does but don't expect to be able to use it. You will see guests using the wired lobby computer or wandering around trying to get connected. The hotel will claim that the national palace, which is across the street, because of the hundreds of signals it emits, interrupts the internet at the hotel. I was able to connect to the router but was not able to connect to the internet during my stay.

It is very close to the center of government, zocalo, and the subway station. These are the only apparent benefits to the hotel unless you are looking for the type of adventure that might attract a young drifter to a place with the qualities of this hotel (hostel).

Very good and professional people. It was my second time in this hostel abd everything was more than good. Food was totally OK and the location is just two blocks from Zocalo square! Keep up the good work! ;)

Everything was as expected. The hostel is simple and relax. The rooms are a bit humid but this is not a problem. Beds are really simple. Hostel was very calm when I was there. They offer breakfast and supper. Meals are just fine. Simple and average hostel.

My boyfriend and I stayed here for two nights and found it to be clean, nice staff and good breakfast / dinner for the price. It is very close to the historical centre of Mexico City so a great base to explore the city from. Great if you want to meet other travellers too. It was fairly noisy but you're in the middle of Mexico City so this is to be expected! Would certainly recommend this hostel.

Staying 5nights on Jan,2013.
Firstly this is information of this hostel that more than 3nights stay provided free transportation from airport, more than 5times from me & booking.com asking detail of transportation, but reply is always same call hostel when we arrive airport. When I arrived airport & calling hostel, hostel said no direction from manager, but advised take airport taxi, cost 180 peso will be paid by hostel.
After arriving hostel, hostel said my hostel fee was prepaid, so difficult to adjust, therefore attending tour of hostel or discount taxi fee from 180 peso.
Next morning negotiated with manager & recover all the money.
When checkout requesting manager to taxi to Tapo bus terminal , manager requested 130 peso which will be double price to market.
Taxi was coming, but this was ban & paying back manager to some money, what was worse when we arrived TAPO , driver requested double price, he said 130peso is per person & lock key.
I said calling manager to tell this situation, then he open the door.

Staff is very friendly & having good hospitality, dinner & breakfast is including which was good even if small budget.
Room is noisy, but night OK to sleep. Bat smell was from anywhere all the time.

We stayed in a private double. The bed was not very clean and the shower clogged up. We could hear the water going down the pipes when people above flushed their toilet and the noise from the downstairs courtyard echoed through the building so it could be heard from our room. It is in a good location but a little hard to find in the taxi from the airport at night. The breakfast was good but nearly finished by the time we arrived at 9. Most of the staff were very helpful and happy to impart their knowledge. For the price it was OK. The cleanliness and the noise were our main concerns.

I stayed only for a couple of nights, and although I found some of the staff a bit serious, they keep the place clean and the food is fine. Don Victor is the star of this place, he makes people laugh in the morning at breakfast, he has a lot of charm and he keeps his eye on every detail so that people feel at home.

Room Tip: ask for inner rooms, they are more quiet at night
