This hotel (hostel) has rooms for large groups as well as traditional rooms. For the price and location I think it was ok for a quick overnight stay if you are the kind of traveler who carries a large camping backpack everywhere you go and are trying to "find yourself" or escape from something and meet similar minded people from around the world. In that case, it is the perfect place for you; for others, the hostel environment might be a little odd.
The traditional hotel rooms are small. There is no air conditioning. There was a leak coming from somewhere in the bathroom that created a permanent puddle behind the toilet. The walls and large windows do not insulate sound so you will hear conversations and other activities coming from adjoining rooms, the lobby, and the street. The rooms is very basic. It has a bed, a small dresser, and two boxes with drawers that are supposed to be side tables but look like very uncomfortable chairs. There is a safe in the room.
The shower has a wall made of glass blocks and there is mildew between the blocks. The window in the bathroom is large and while open there are certain rooms above and at the correct angles from which someone could enjoy a free show of your lower body, at least. The sink is wider and deeper than most, which is a plus.
The hotel claims to have wifi. It does but don't expect to be able to use it. You will see guests using the wired lobby computer or wandering around trying to get connected. The hotel will claim that the national palace, which is across the street, because of the hundreds of signals it emits, interrupts the internet at the hotel. I was able to connect to the router but was not able to connect to the internet during my stay.
It is very close to the center of government, zocalo, and the subway station. These are the only apparent benefits to the hotel unless you are looking for the type of adventure that might attract a young drifter to a place with the qualities of this hotel (hostel).
