Good trip to spent day in MC to be familiar with its acient and new history. Many hotels (even those close to the airport) offers this trip, so if your flight is late evening - go ahead...

“Basilica Lady of Guadalupe 2014”
Reviewed 7 August 2014

So much history! The older structure, built in Colonial period, is sinking, and it's hard to maintain balance at the entrance, but still people go there to worship. The new structure is huge and seats 10,000. Guadalupe is such a part of Mexico's culture.

“Basilica de Guadalupe”
Reviewed 5 August 2014

We visited both the new and old basilica. Amazing! you have to see both. The old basilica is a very decorative colonial building. We also took sometime to step outside and hang at the plaza de la basilica. beautiful.

“Good attraction - very commercial”
Reviewed 3 August 2014

It is worth a visit for all history behind it. Nevertheless, be prepared to pass through many many stores selling everything you can imagine related to Lady of Guadalupe... a bit chaotic. On the other hand, if you need to find restrooms there.... try using the ones inside the "bigger" stores... take the opportunity that you will buy souvenirs anyway and solve your problem ;)

“Avoid unless you are devoted”
Reviewed 30 July 2014

The image of the madonna which attracts so many pilgrims from all over the world might be worth a visit only if you are around / but I would strongly discourage a visit to the basilica of guadalupe all in all simply because there is not much to see / the new basilica is mostly for the devout who is there to pray, while the old basilica has only an interesting facade because inside it is very plain. There is a better way to spend your time sightseeing, not here
