I normally do not write reviews but I read a lot of reviews in preparation for our trip......I feel I need to give back.
My wife heard, through a friend, to go with Carlos at LDS Tours. I was a bit skeptical at first but do not regret using him in the least.
First of all his tours are catered to how you like them. You decide how much you want to see and experience. This is not a cattle-cart operation like those busses we saw around us. His groups are much smaller (we had four in our Chichen Itza excursion). Second the price is only slightly more than the cattle-drive tours but the quality and amount of experience is so much greater that I felt we received a better return on our investment. We watched other groups clapping at Chichen Itza to hear the echo while we were learning about the classic vs. pre-classic architectures, Mayan rituals, etc... Furthermore, he took us to places (beaches, zip lines) that didn't feel "touristy." Go experience "Dos Ojos!"
Lastly, the information he communicated was intelligent and full of life-enhancing knowledge. I know that sounds a little over-the-top but he opened my eyes to the Mayan culture, the history and correlations with other ancient civilizations.
Carlos appears to be too young to know so much about Mayan history but you can see his passion (and schooling) is archeology. My wife and I will go with Carlos next time we visit the Yucatan. I don't have his info but I'm sure you can search for him online.
Hope this helps!
