“Decent location, very helpful staff, nice room”
Reviewed 29 December 2011

I was upgraded to a better room because the one I had booked wasn't available. The hotel staff were really nice and friendly, but not very knowledgeable (e.g. I asked if there was a hairdresser/barbershop nearby and the receptionist had no idea). They held our bags for the day after we checked out, etc.
We used one of the taxis parked outside the hotel because it was raining (and late), and it turned out to be quite expensive but I guess that was to be expected.

Location:
It is a 15-20 min walk from the nearest metro (subway) station but very close to the Metrobus stop. There are several good and cheap eating joints nearby, and a very nice lady pretty much across the street that makes excellent street food (tacos, quesadillas, etc). Fancier restaurants are about 10-15 mins (on foot) away in the Zona Rosa area.

Bottomline:
Friendly people, excellent value for money. Decent location.

Thank you for your sincere words. It was our pleasure to receive you.
We are proud to know that our rooms as well as our privileged location were pleasant to you. On the other hand, we are sorry to know that you got that impression of our staff.
We are very committed to our guests’ requirements. Therefore, in the case our staff does not have an answer to your inquiries be sure that they will research about the best options for you, based on your specific needs. Lodging in our hotel provides you with a strategic location where you can find all the services within reach; there are several hairdresser/barbershops around the corner in the Zona Rosa area.
As for our taxi service, you may like to know that they are special touristic taxis. Therefore, they tend to be a little more expensive but safer than the regular cabs.

Staff very pleasant and helpful. Had a Superior room which should be called basic or back packers, They were probably decorated red and purple in the 70’s. The first night in Room 308 was too noisy with huge extractors outside on a flat roof. Also they were refitting the room above with drills during the day time 8-5. Reception was helpful and moved us up to 1105 which looked identical but was quiet. The nets in 1105 are ripped and dirty. The beds are hard. After the next night we had to ask reception to have the room cleaned because it was so dusty and bins needed to empty. Breakfast basic unless you pay extra. Good shower even better if your 4ft tall. WIFI fair. Really annoying that there are still (even after all the feed back) no safes in even in the new rooms, had to keep leaving everything behind reception. The new deluxe rooms are 300 pesos a night more. Good location 30 minute walk to the center, 10 minute walk to restaurants. They organized a beaten up old car to take us to the airport that had no seat belts. Wait until the refurbishment is finished

Thank you for your sincere words and for taking the time of commenting about us. We are sorry about the noise of the extractors you mention; we are currently replacing one of our elevators for a completely new one for the benefit of our guests so in the meantime, we are enabling another elevator to avoid the inconveniences that this may cause. Nevertheless, this replacement may result in occasional dust and noise, that is why we give our guests a change of room when required (and possible) to minimize the disturbances caused.
In reference to what you mention about the rooms, We do count with a basic room called “Superior” which is not as fancy as a “Deluxe” room but comes out as a popular alternative for budget travelers due to its low rate.
About the safes, we do take very seriously the comments of our guests, that is why we have created a project about placing safes in every Deluxe rooms which should be completed in a few months, all for the sake of our guests comfort.
As for the cab service you mention, we are really concerned about it. Being a hotel that deeply cares about our guests’ needs, we do offer a taxi service provided by a third party company, although when the demand of them is high and there are no more cabs available, we have to ask the support of another company, which we believe is the car you are referring to.
We completely understand your comment as the car you described is unacceptable for the service we offer to our guests. That is why we will make a careful review of the cabs the company is using for transporting our visitors so they will stop using units as the one they used to transport you.

Once again, we thank you for showing us these opportunity areas; this way we can work on them and continue to excel in the services that we provide to our guests.

Had a few nights booked in this hotel with my mother, yes we had the room at a very cheap rate and yes I understand they are busy updating the rooms, those are things that are understandable when you book a cheap hotel. What's not acceptable is the lack of a safe/security box and untrustworthy staff! We were very careful to not leave anything in the room during the day, we got back late one evening and decided to just quickly pop out for a bite to eat and my mother left her camera in her bag and closed it thinking it would be fine as surely no one would be in there unfortunately we returned to find it missing! The only possibility is someone in the hotel with a key went in and simply took it. Disgusting, and the ladies at the desk could offer no apologies or assurances of what would be done to trace the camera. Definitely paying top dollar for a crappy room if you have to buy yourself a new camera after staying there. Don't do it to yourself it's not worth it!

Thank you for taking the time to let TripAdvisor’s readers know about the situation. Since we became aware of it, we ran a deep investigation to find out what happened and try to get the best resolution.
Whenever a so-called theft happens, it must be reported to the local authorities in order for our insurance to cover the object’s value, when it proceeds. Please let us assure you that our guests can fully count with our support in order to file the corresponding report to the local authorities. Therefore, we asked you to help us create the report by describing the details of the lost object and the situation as happened, following the correct procedure; unfortunately you denied and we could not get specific facts.

Our chamber mates reported that the “Please do not disturb” sign was always hanging out of the door during your stay with us, so they did not had the chance to enter to your room. We are concerned about the issue and still able to find a good resolution, please do not hesitate to contact us. Thank you.

We just stayed here 3 nights in October 2011. We speak very little spanish but there was always a gracious manager there to assist us. The first room we were given was right above some construction and smelled like sealant as well reverberating with banging -- not to worry, though, as we were promptly given another room when we called down. (They were renovating their second elevator and were giving all hotel guests 20% off at their rather decent restaurant to compensate). The room was uber clean and neat, with a modern feel just like in the photos. The air conditioner was freestanding, though, and the tubing goes out through the window. Because of the levered windows that allow for that, the room was noisy -- we heard our neighbors partying late into the night and the street sounds as well. We easily solved this by putting the air conditioning unit on fan the second night and slept well. The elevator guy, Ricardo, was friendly and made us feel very welcome. The hotel also hooked us up with a terrific english-speaking tour guide/driver, Santiago, who gave us a wonderful tour of the Aztec ruins. The location of the hotel is great for walking to the major parts of the city and the included breakfast (continental) was fresh fruit and rolls but could be upgraded for a few dollars to a full spread -- on Saturday we got custom-made omelets as well as traditional Mexican food. We'd definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Make sure to ask if there is construction and a room far from it. Also, a room higher up may have l...

I have stayed in many hotels aroud the world and every once in a while i stay somewhere where i feel like home. I dont know if its because i took the time to talk to the staff or if its becuase of Ricardo the front desk manager but thank you thank you.

The hotel was under renovation and having their problems, dust, elevators not working, cleaning was hit and miss. I judge people/businesses by how they handle their problems and i have to say they took care of them by killing us with kindness and help with all our needs and then some.

I had a choice of stayng in an unrenovated room and chose the renovated one. It was perfect and exactly what we needed and beautiful, good price too. The hotel is pretty central 15 min cab ride ( because of trafic) to most places you need to go to.

Restaurant is ok and inexpensive. Breakfast Buffet is simple but has mostly everything you want. Lunch special for the price you pay is more than worth it, If you are still in the hotel go for the daily special.
Room service is a little of, the order does not always come the way you order it and they never come ready with change. They make up for it by coming right back.

Becarful on the taxis, we took some "executive" taxis sometimes that the hotel offers for security double the price. But we found the city to be safe enough. Only thing to make sure of is the rules of the taxis. Day time they have a meter and dont let them trick you. At night they may have a fixed charge sometimes. Nothing is really further than 70 pesos ride unless its after 11pm might go to 100pesos. We had a problem with one taxi driver who was mean and had no change. We walked into the hotel and everyone came to our help form security, bellboy, frontdesk clerk and Ricardo ( who i think sleeps there) also came to our assistance.

Thanks to everyone at the front desk for an excellent stay and you can feel asured that they will try to help you in anyway possible.

Thank you for taking the time to write about your experience. Be sure that our staff is happy to aid you in anything you need, and everytime you visit us will be the same.
It is a shame what you tell us about the taxi driver, that is why we offer the executive taxi service to our guests. They may be a little more expensive but safer than regular taxis, plus they are available 24/7 at the hotel.
Rest assured that whether you choose the executive or the regular taxis, our staff will always help you in anything you might need.

I stayed here for 4 nights (split 3/1), we got the top level room and were very impressed, it looked exactly like the pictures. I loved the furniture (although the beds are a touch too firm), and the bathroom...the shower and sink are fantastic, very beautiful design. The staff for the most part were extremely nice and helpful. The few niggles were the hallway carpet was in need of a vacuuming (which is odd since the rooms and lobby were immaculate), and the elevators were old, slow and sometimes out of commission. Something which I guess is more of a cultural thing since we saw it at other hotels is the composition of what they consider to be a 'continental' breakfast, you have to pay attention to the 'and' & 'or' its easy to grab the wrong food off the buffet, then its not included with the room, but this is not only for this hotel, so once we figured it out it became a non-issue. Overall I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel, although I cannot comment on the other room levels (there are possible 3 room types)...everyone from the bellboy, the maids, elevator attendants, to the manager were very very nice!

Thank you for your kind notes. Be sure we appreciate any kind of comment. We are glad to know that your stay with us was satisfying.
The Continental breakfast is included for free under some rate types as a promotion, which means no extra charge for you. It is a basic breakfast although you could exchange it for a Buffet Breakfast, by paying a small difference. We hope that you visit us again so you can try our delicious buffet breakfast, we are sure you will like it.
