This hotel is in the process of refurbishment, so my review is on the pre refurbishment rooms.
The hotel is just off Reforma the main avenue. It is close to the Zona Rosa, 10 minutes walk and also to Insurgentes Subway. The rooms were half price as the were the older rooms. They are huge rooms, kingsize bed and desk etc. There was no a/conditioning. On 2 evenings there were huge storms and the front windows leaked like a lake was coming in. That said the water didn't come anywhere near my bed or inconvenience me. I also found some hailstones that had come in through a vent that had had the cover removed. Overall, I'd stay there again.

Thank you for your sincere words about us. We are pleased to know that in general terms, you would stay with us again. Nevertheless we are worried about the aspects you mention as we are in a constant improvement process and we assure you all the comments made by our guests are taken into count.
As you kindly mention, we are on a remodeling process in order to improve the quality of our rooms and we are very pleased to inform that currently, 90% of our rooms have been improved so very soon all of our rooms will be ready. This remodeling includes a total new concept in designing as well as the implementations of new commodities for our guests and structural improvements. Some of this new commodities include the placing of an A/C equipment on every one of our “Deluxe” rooms.
As for the ventilation cover being removed, we are sorry about this. As we mentioned, we are including A/C´s in all our brand new rooms, which require us to make measurements on the ventilation ducts. Nevertheless we assure you that we have reported this to our maintenance colleagues in order to prevent it from happening again.
We hope that you can visit us again soon as we would love to know your opinion on our new refurbished rooms, we are sure that you will not experience the little inconveniences you mentioned in our new “Deluxe” rooms.

My husband and I stayed at the hotel for one week and found it to be a good location in a nice area of Mexico City. We felt safe in that neighbourhood. We had access to the metro as well as the metro bus on Insurgentes Street.
There is a restaurant where you can have a buffet every morning with daily changes of the menu. It is convenient to have a bite to eat there and a reasonable price.
The staff are very nice. The manager was very kind.
Jhonnathan Aviles is the elevator operator and so welcoming and friendly when you return to the hotel after a day outside in the hectic city. He is very helpful about any enquiries around the city. His english is excellent.
Also, the bellman, Mauritcio has been working there for 28 years and his english is excellent
and he is so warm and welcoming. We felt he is very professional and helpful.
For the price of the hotel, it is really a very good deal.

Room Tip: If you want to have a bath, there are rooms with bathtubs on the 3rd floor. We had a good shower bu...

Thank you for your kind words about our staff members and our hotel. We feel very happy to know that you were able to enjoy the multiple advantages of our privileged location, such as the many transportation possibilities, as well as return to the hotel to rest and feel just like home.
However, we believe it is important to mention that by the end of the first half of this year, we will no longer count with rooms with bathtubs. Even so, we will always be proud to welcome you in one of our Deluxe rooms which apart from counting with a modern new minimalistic design, also have pleasant extra commodities for our guests.

Thank you for taking the time to write about us. We are very pleased to know that you noticed what a safe area we are located in. It is ideal for tourists who are fond of taking walks in lively and historic streets like Reforma Avenue. We also hope that you had the chance to visit one of the nearby touristic and popular attractions such as the Wax/Ripley’s Museum or the Historic Center. We will be happy to inform you about touristic plans and places around.

I was upgraded to a better room because the one I had booked wasn't available. The hotel staff were really nice and friendly, but not very knowledgeable (e.g. I asked if there was a hairdresser/barbershop nearby and the receptionist had no idea). They held our bags for the day after we checked out, etc.
We used one of the taxis parked outside the hotel because it was raining (and late), and it turned out to be quite expensive but I guess that was to be expected.

Location:
It is a 15-20 min walk from the nearest metro (subway) station but very close to the Metrobus stop. There are several good and cheap eating joints nearby, and a very nice lady pretty much across the street that makes excellent street food (tacos, quesadillas, etc). Fancier restaurants are about 10-15 mins (on foot) away in the Zona Rosa area.

Bottomline:
Friendly people, excellent value for money. Decent location.

Thank you for your sincere words. It was our pleasure to receive you.
We are proud to know that our rooms as well as our privileged location were pleasant to you. On the other hand, we are sorry to know that you got that impression of our staff.
We are very committed to our guests’ requirements. Therefore, in the case our staff does not have an answer to your inquiries be sure that they will research about the best options for you, based on your specific needs. Lodging in our hotel provides you with a strategic location where you can find all the services within reach; there are several hairdresser/barbershops around the corner in the Zona Rosa area.
As for our taxi service, you may like to know that they are special touristic taxis. Therefore, they tend to be a little more expensive but safer than the regular cabs.

Staff very pleasant and helpful. Had a Superior room which should be called basic or back packers, They were probably decorated red and purple in the 70’s. The first night in Room 308 was too noisy with huge extractors outside on a flat roof. Also they were refitting the room above with drills during the day time 8-5. Reception was helpful and moved us up to 1105 which looked identical but was quiet. The nets in 1105 are ripped and dirty. The beds are hard. After the next night we had to ask reception to have the room cleaned because it was so dusty and bins needed to empty. Breakfast basic unless you pay extra. Good shower even better if your 4ft tall. WIFI fair. Really annoying that there are still (even after all the feed back) no safes in even in the new rooms, had to keep leaving everything behind reception. The new deluxe rooms are 300 pesos a night more. Good location 30 minute walk to the center, 10 minute walk to restaurants. They organized a beaten up old car to take us to the airport that had no seat belts. Wait until the refurbishment is finished

Thank you for your sincere words and for taking the time of commenting about us. We are sorry about the noise of the extractors you mention; we are currently replacing one of our elevators for a completely new one for the benefit of our guests so in the meantime, we are enabling another elevator to avoid the inconveniences that this may cause. Nevertheless, this replacement may result in occasional dust and noise, that is why we give our guests a change of room when required (and possible) to minimize the disturbances caused.
In reference to what you mention about the rooms, We do count with a basic room called “Superior” which is not as fancy as a “Deluxe” room but comes out as a popular alternative for budget travelers due to its low rate.
About the safes, we do take very seriously the comments of our guests, that is why we have created a project about placing safes in every Deluxe rooms which should be completed in a few months, all for the sake of our guests comfort.
As for the cab service you mention, we are really concerned about it. Being a hotel that deeply cares about our guests’ needs, we do offer a taxi service provided by a third party company, although when the demand of them is high and there are no more cabs available, we have to ask the support of another company, which we believe is the car you are referring to.
We completely understand your comment as the car you described is unacceptable for the service we offer to our guests. That is why we will make a careful review of the cabs the company is using for transporting our visitors so they will stop using units as the one they used to transport you.

Once again, we thank you for showing us these opportunity areas; this way we can work on them and continue to excel in the services that we provide to our guests.

Had a few nights booked in this hotel with my mother, yes we had the room at a very cheap rate and yes I understand they are busy updating the rooms, those are things that are understandable when you book a cheap hotel. What's not acceptable is the lack of a safe/security box and untrustworthy staff! We were very careful to not leave anything in the room during the day, we got back late one evening and decided to just quickly pop out for a bite to eat and my mother left her camera in her bag and closed it thinking it would be fine as surely no one would be in there unfortunately we returned to find it missing! The only possibility is someone in the hotel with a key went in and simply took it. Disgusting, and the ladies at the desk could offer no apologies or assurances of what would be done to trace the camera. Definitely paying top dollar for a crappy room if you have to buy yourself a new camera after staying there. Don't do it to yourself it's not worth it!

Thank you for taking the time to let TripAdvisor’s readers know about the situation. Since we became aware of it, we ran a deep investigation to find out what happened and try to get the best resolution.
Whenever a so-called theft happens, it must be reported to the local authorities in order for our insurance to cover the object’s value, when it proceeds. Please let us assure you that our guests can fully count with our support in order to file the corresponding report to the local authorities. Therefore, we asked you to help us create the report by describing the details of the lost object and the situation as happened, following the correct procedure; unfortunately you denied and we could not get specific facts.

Our chamber mates reported that the “Please do not disturb” sign was always hanging out of the door during your stay with us, so they did not had the chance to enter to your room. We are concerned about the issue and still able to find a good resolution, please do not hesitate to contact us. Thank you.
