I was pleased with Hotel Marlowe. The place has obviously been remodeled and the appearance from the street and lobby is positive. When I first arrived (around midnight on a Saturday night) there was a lot of street noise and I was a bit nervous. My room, though, had no problem with noise (even though I was on the second floor).

The room itself was OK - nice size, the bed was comfortable. The pillows were not very comfortable for me - small and firm - but I could fold them and make do. My room did not have aircon, but it had a very nice ceiling fan over the bed. I actually preferred this as I really like ceiling fans (and the temperature was comfortable during March).

The wireless internet was free and reliable. I was very pleased with that.

I did not eat breakfast at the hotel, so I cannot comment on that.

For me, the biggest disappointment was the shower - not very strong pressure and highly variable temperatures in the morning.

Overall, I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of the hotel given the price that I paid. A very pleasant experience overall and I would stay there again.

Clean, comfortable rooms, great location near the Palacio de Bellas Artes. The mediocre breakfast was pricey, though, 100 pesos.

All in all good value for money, recommended.

Marlowe has a good location in Central Mexico right next to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which was important to us because we were organising a conference there. The hotel is very basic, no frills so do not expect to much. However it is clean, safe, rooms are large with free Internet. Mediocre breakfast is included. Staff speaks poor English but they make an effort. If you don't want to spend too much on a hotel this is a good choice, but what you pay is what you get.

Hi Everyone! Hope you'll find this useful:

PRICE: Hotel Marlowe is a great bargain specially if your income is in anything stronger than Mexican Peso (Euros, Yen, Dollar, etc.). We spent 7 nights and the bill was for 400 US Dollars more or less. Visit the website, what you see is what you get, and once in there you might be surprised in a positive way.

LOCATION: Excellent location in Zona Centro, it's near almost all main touristic attractions in mexico city by foot (Zocalo, Polanco, Centro Historico, Alameda, Fine Artas Palace, Reforma, Chapultepec, China Town, Condesa, Tlatelolco). You also have 3 metro stations at 3 to 5 minutes walk and the Bus Station is 10 minutes away by bus or metro (there you can catch a bus to Puebla, Teotihuacan, Cuernavaca, Taxco, Acapulco, Guanajuato and other great nearby places). A taxi from the Airport will cost you 10 to 15 USA Dollar to the Hotel and it will take 15 to 25 minutes (depends on traffic) and you can take also the metro (for just 20 cents US). San Angel, Santa Fe and Xochimilco can be reached by metro and trolley in less than 40 to 60 minutes. They're also a lot of convenience stores nearby and great and cheap Mexican food restaurants (if you really want to taste Mexican Food theres a great place in front the Hotel)

SECURITY: No problem with this issue, i mean, you'll take your safety meassurements with common sense yet in my experience Mexico City is much safer and kind for tourist than New York City, Chicago or Los Angeles.

STAFF AND ACCOMMODATION: The Hotel has a nice and modern reception; the staff is very friendly, they have maps and brochures with coupons, free internet, cheap and delicious restaurant, the hotel is clean, they have free internet, free purified water in each room, the only thing was that our room didn't have air condition and the view wasn't so pretty at all (rooftops) and some rooms may be kinda old but hopefully you'll get one of the renewed ones!

My family (including 2 boys ages 6 and 8) stayed here for 3 nights. It's a great location for the historic district of Mexico City. It is basically quite at night, but we did experience lots of noise from some fireworks coming from the "china town" district that is located 1/2 block away. (It was Chinese New Year). I would recommend this hotel for those needing a one/two night hotel to see the historic area. The rooms are basically for sleeping only, no extra room to spread out or relax. Front desk staff were ambivalent, but the dining staff were great.

This was one of the lower priced hotels for an International Conference and stayed 6 days. I felt it was good value, clean rooms, comfortable, enough amenities and good buffet breakfast with fruit, juices, cereals, breads and hot dishes was included in price. It is close to two metro lines, and walking distance to Zocola, many local cafes in surrounding streets. It was quiet - yes some pipe noise but no worse than many places and wasn't a problem. I would definitely stay here again. Mahamati
