“Welcoming, pragmatic and very friendly”
Reviewed 15 February 2014

This was our second stay at Tao (then still Campeche house). Nothing changed since our last time; we often visit Mexico city for short-vacations). The treatment is very friendly, and they have again facilitated our arrival to the city and thought about every detail even before. Both the reservation system and the services we requested (we needed transportation from the airport) were very well organized. Compared to the frequent confusions and anonymity of big hotels, this is a small jewel.

This place is very well situated, at the very heart of la Condesa neighbordhood. It is also a beatiful building, with both the design and the rooms' features very well harmonized. A Mexican breakfast was prepared according to what we had long expected (fruits, eggs, cereals, chilaquiles...). This is the typical place you would like to stay kind of hidden to avoid any future overbooking risks!

I spent four fabulous days at the beautiful flower in the heart of Condesa -- the "Orchid Room" of the Tao Bed & Breakfast. From the hospitality of the owners, to the scrumtuous breakfasts, to the amazing Argentine Steak House on the ground floor, the experience was quite a delight. I felt relaxed, at home, and could not have asked for more gracious accomodations and hosts. I am a frequent international traveler, and my wife has worked in hotel/restaurant management. Needless to say, I do not provide accolades on accomodations unless truly warranted. Please do not miss the opportunity to stay at the Tao. You will not regret it. If you prefer a more detailed description, please call me in Washington, DC at 202-686-2886.

Enjoy. Mario L. Herman

Room Tip: 3rd Floor is where you want to be.

I visit Mexico City a lot for, mostly, business. In the past I would stay at various hotels, usually in the Reforma area, but I found that the hotels would drive me crazy after a few days, and hotels hit you up for extra costs for every little thing. Internet...an extra 20 bucks per day. Requesting a taxi a 2.5 dollar sur charge just for requesting a taxi, this was of course over and above the taxi charge which is already inflated because the hotels usually have a special deal with the chauffeurs etc. These are over and above the inflated price for the room.

No more. I now first look to see if there is availability at a bed and breakfast now called Tao Bed and Breakfast, located at the corner of Campeche and Saltillo in Condesa. This B&B consists of three rooms on the third floor of an art deco building. Each room has it's own bathroom, two of the rooms have their own terrace/balcony. I really feel relaxed and at home at this place. It gets great light and is very quiet. I can come and go as I please and do not need anybody to get me a taxi.

Of course it's in Condesa which is one of my favorite neighborhoods in Mexico City. You can walk a few blocks to almost anything you might need, from a nightclub, to a yoga studio and as for food, wow, you got tons of choices. Very safe area, never had a problem.

I can't think of a better alternative to a hotel. You get the best deal if you stay longer than 7 days. I know people who have stayed there fore months at a time, but staying for only a few days is still a great deal.

Room Tip: There are three rooms, two offer their own private balcony (Bonsai and Terrace room) which is great...
