“A little piece of Oaxaca in Mexico City”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 June 2014 via mobile

Oaxaca is one of the regions in Mexico with strong culinary tradition. Chef Alejandro Ruiz brings that to his restaurant by using 90% of the ingredients directly from Oaxaca. Also, Guzina (which means kitchen in Zappteco) Oaxaca, holds one of the best Mezcal list of Mexico City

“A wonderful restaurant serendipitiously found”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 May 2014

Arrived Mexico City and was recommended a top restaurant-when I got there and couldnt find it i was told by a neighboring restaurant that they had closed down.
it was after 10:30 PM and I wasnt going to find too many places open so I went to the first decent looking open restaurant and had one of the best Mexican meals i ever experienced.
To boot no one spoke English and my Spanish is poor but a kind English speaking diner helped me negotiate the menu.
They bought out the ingredients to make a spicy sauce (onions , tomatoes various chiles etc),asked me how spicy i wanted it and using a mortar and pestle proceeeded to make the sauce in front of me and it was perfect. The rest of the meal and the mole sauce was equally delicious with fresh ingredients and ice cold bear. I left almost at midnight happy and full.
