“Fine setting and service!”
Reviewed 25 December 2012

While we were a litle disappointed at the short selection of seafood on the menu, the wines and food were great; we have learned to go for lunch before the locals go for comida,so the place was quiet when we went at 1 p.m.
You can sit outside at the front and watch the wealthy folks of Polanca walk by and also the valet parking.
Good wines and good menu.l;

“I got sick”
Reviewed 5 November 2012

The noise is high. I asked for a Clam Chowder, I felt something was wrong. Today I went to a gastroenterogist because my intestine is distended and that comes from that soup.

Sven H, Gerente at Lampuga Polanco, responded to this review, 13 November 2012
Dear Irma,

We are really sorry to hear that you got sick! Assuming that this is really attributed to our clam chowder we will not avoid responsibility, however I can assure you that our products are from the best quality and monitored daily. Also the handling of our seafood is done in a top hygienic way. Consuming fish and seafood however, always involves a certain risk due to eating habits or allergies. I have always made sure and always will, that something like this will never happen at our establishment. If there is anything that I can do to make you feel better or if I can help, please let me know.

Regards,

Sven

“Excelent Service and food”
Reviewed 12 October 2012

Location is great, the place has a good ambiance. Right in the heart of polanco, walking distance from main hotels is Lampuga Bistrot, which as also a patio and a terrace, both are very comfortable for lunch or dinner. The food is very good, all of it. But Lampuga has also the advantage of being an excelent place for seafood, that has a fair number of dishes for those who do not wish to eat anything from the sea. You won't regret choosing this place. Ideal for casual and business. Service is great. Sven Hossfeld, the owner is always very close to the operation of the restaurant, so rest assure, you will not be dissapointed. If you drink wine, you will find something for your taste.

“Almost stands out amongst many clones”
Reviewed 21 September 2012

There are loads of trendy bistros and restaurants of the like in the area. Based on several visits here, we'd say the food and service is consistently good enough to make it stand out. Many menu options and food is always fresh, tasty and meticulously prepared - seafood, meats or veggie choices alike. The service is very attentive, but never gets in the way. Wine list could be more ample, but serves its purpose and has wines not frequently found elsewhere.

The one qualm we had on our last visit was the flan - consistency was like that of cheesecake: thick and dense. May have had something to do with the egg shortage that seems to have plagued the city?

Indoor seating may be a bit noisy, but their outdoor patio - behind the restaurant, is very pleasant day or night and is a nice alternative to restaurants that have their outdoor seating in front, with cars and trucks buzzing by.
