“An oasis of calm in the bustling city”
Reviewed 12 August 2009

I spent about a week in all at the Red Tree House as part of a trip for a friends wedding and a small bit of travelling around - it was a fantastic place to stay with accommodating owners, tasty breakfasts and of course, the lovely dog, Abril. My first room was in the main house and was beautifully decorated and large and roomy with shower down the hallway and second time I stayed in the tree house the other side of the courtyard - equally nice with ensuite this time and small patio for drinks. It is a nice district with parks and coffee shops galore with a nice bohemian arty feel. I was a sole traveller and not with the rest of the group all the time and felt perfectly safe walking by myself. There was an excellent restaurant on the other side of the road, I can't remember the name of it, but it was hidden down a pathway with lovely courtyard garden and we had a fantastic meal there - ask the owners and try it for yourself!

I will no doubt be back to visit my friend someday and hopefully this place will still be thriving and I can stay again. A real gem!

There were three generations of us there, ranging in age from 3 1/2 and 5 1/2, to "much older". We couldn't believe how we had lucked out by finding The Red Tree House. We didn't feel as though we were being treated as royalty, which none of us would have liked, but as treasured guests whom they were so pleased to see. Our suite was fantastic and at a good price, the food great, excellent artwork, great people, and Abril helped to ease any pangs of leaving my lab at home. (Although she certainly doesn't stick around if your plate is empty!) Mexicana Airlines made a mess of our tickets, which was a hassle, so we had to stay two extra nights, which was great. They went to great length to assure rooms for us for those two nights even though it was a busy time. We really appreciated that.

We stayed in The Red Tree House for nearly a week and had a great time. The entire staff was fantastic, easing our rough start into the country (two hours in airport immigration) and accommodating us with out batting an eye when we needed to extend our stay. The rooms were very clean and beautifully decorated, the house was full of charm and the breakfasts were great! We will stay there again on our next trip to the city with out a doubt!

The Red Tree House is the best place to stay in Mexico City! The rooms, patio, and shared spaces are beautifully decorated and magically lit. The owners and staff are incredibly nice and helpful, truly making you feel like you have a home in Mexico City.

The Condesa neighborhood is packed with a variety of delicious restaurants, sidewalk coffee shops, and unique boutique shops. The metro station is an easy, safe walk.

The breakfast varies and is always delicious, which you can enjoy in the beautiful outdoor garden-patio.

The creatively decorated rooms and shared areas are always very clean. Also, the beds are incredibly comfortable. Some rooms have nice balconies and we slept the nights with the doors to our room open and enjoyed the night breeze. The rooms offer the perfect mix between privacy and community.

The staff helped me with anything I needed and treated me like a friend right from the start. The Red Tree House has created a special, unforgettable space that brings people together.

Is perfect for couples or solo travelers or a group of friends. Classy, yet laid back. I would recommend to anyone.

I can't wait to come back!! Truly made my stay in Mexico City. Thank you so much.

Upon the recommendation of several friends, we spent a total of 4 nights at this delightful B&B in the attractive tree-lined "colonia" of Condessa in Mexico City. This was our first vist to Mexico City, and the warm, welcoming and helpful attitude of Jorge, Craig, Tessy and Edwardo helped make it a delightful one. Our second floor room was large and very comfortable, with a lovely wet bar and separate sitting area. The entire staff was most helpful with restaurant recommendations for places that were within walking distance of the hotel, and we enjoyed delightful meals at several different places. The Red Tree House serves a very nice breakfast in the morning with juices, cereal, pastries and hot egg dishes that did a great job of holding us through the morning. We will definitely return on our next visit to Mexico City.

They should call the RTH a "botel" -- it's small enough to be a B&B, but you have much more freedom; the rooms are more like a boutique hotel, but interaction with staff and guests is much more personal. The proprietors and the staff are present and welcoming w/o being instrusive. The guests are interesting; it's fascinating to learn why everyone is in Mexico City. When my friends and I were there, we met a couple on their honeymoon who were starting graduate school in NYC; a family with three children from the MidWest on vacation; an independent researcher on immgration who had spent the last month traveling on the top of trains; and a couple in town to present their musical at a film festival. Mexico City is big, and loud and wonderful. The RTH is small, and inviting and wonderful. Stay there.

You would think that in a city of 27 million people, it would be hard to find a peaceful oasis that induces calm, tranquility and grace. The Red Tree House is a gorgeous sanctuary in the best neighborhood of DF.
Even though we had a quick overnight stay only, I deeply regretted not staying here longer. We chose another B & B, which cost more and wasn't as nice .
Our room , Mariposa, was small , darling and artfully appointed with modern luxuries. The bed was heavenly and induced the most pleasant sleep. The staff are accessible and so friendly and helpful, and the house dog Abril is precious. Extremely close to everything good in Condesa, including the lush parque Mexico.

Do yourself a favor and stay here. You will be so happy you did! Our next visit to DF will definitely be here.
