“Great live band, average sushi comes from restaurant next door, small "dance floor" but was still a blast!”
Reviewed 10 August 2013 via mobile

They had a great live band, but overall the place is pretty cramped for dancing. They still make it work though, including pockets of folks dancing in the aisles and wherever they can squeeze in. The band started about 11p and was still going strong at 3am.

I'd go back to Mama Rumba, but would also be game to find a place with a bigger and purpose built dance floor.

There was no cover and the service was attentive.

“Live music OK .... pretty crowded ...”
Reviewed 29 May 2013

I went to this place for the first time on Saturday after having passed it for years.

The live Cuban dance music and the reasonably priced "botanas" or "finger food" are alright ...

But if you don't like dancing (like me) then this place probably is not for you ... and the place was so crowded that even if you wanted to dance I am not sure how you could with the crowd there ...

The cover is 100 pesos on weekends for both men and women ...

“Great live salsa music”
Reviewed 2 February 2013

Great live salsa music, a lot of people dancing. If you're into Salsa that's the place. The only con is that it's only salsa. So after a while, unless you're a big fan it might become a bit repetitive.

There is a free salsa course at 8:30 pm depending on the day. That's a nice way to revive your old salsa memories before you actually hit the dancefloor.

I liked the ambiance as it's pretty laid back, no big show off attitude :-)

This was undoubtedly the best place for salsa that I encountered in the DF.. Very good salsa and ambiente.. Many great looking women to dance with as well.

“Great atmosphere, but a little crowded...”
Reviewed 26 December 2011

I attended the free dance classes in Loreto on thursday nights with some friends- the teaching was a little too fast for this uncoordinated Aussie, and the dance floor too crowded for proper instruction. However, the music and atmosphere is fabulous, locals are friendly so even if you go alone you wont be short of a dance partner. I'd advise skipping the class and go a bit later for the music- you'll learn the steps from patient locals as you go... Its great fun!
