Estancia de Valencia is centrally located in Oaxaca, just a few blocks north of Santo Domingo. Location is convenient and in a safe and mostly quiet neighborhood (being that the city is noisy overall). The house is really impressive, beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean. Lorena and her husband are really knowledgeable about Oaxaca and are always eager to share all they know about the city and surrounding areas.
The highlight of our stay was Malena. She runs the house and is the main cook...she is a lovely, hardworking and kind woman who really knows Oaxacan cooking - we asked her all kinds of questions regarding local ingredients and she was happy and proud to share her knowledge and experiences.
Breakfast was always good with hot chocolate, freshly squeezed juice, coffee, fruit, local bread, and a main dish that changes daily. My recommendation is: if you're not a big fan of breakfast, don't stay here! You won't take advantage of all the delicious cooking going on in the house...you must also be willing to try new things as most of the dishes have a Oaxacan twist.
I will definitely recommend Estancia de Valencia to my friends and family and will be happy to return!More
