This is not your cookie cutter chain hotel - if that's what you are looking for this is not the hotel for you. If you want to experience a wonderful step back in time and enjoy the atmosphere that existed at the end of the 18th and beginning of the 19th century this is the hotel for you - you will love it. We had an incredibly spacious suite with bedroom, separate lounge and large bathroom - all beautifully furnished with great attention to detail and authenticity.

Room Tip: Our room was on the first floor facing the street - noise was not a problem as there are two sets of doors and it does give you a chance to people watch.

I was blown away by the huge suite (Bella Epoca) and the charm of the building, located a few short blocks from Zocalo, the cathedrals, convents and shopping areas. The staff were friendly, extraordinarily helpful, and the rooftop breakfasts were delicious and served with a smile. We felt as though we had traveled back centuries when we were in the room. Though we faced the street, noise was not an issue at all, and the inside of the hotel was quiet. I never wanted to leave. No car is necessary to enjoy Oaxaca. Highly recommend day trips to Mitlas and Monte Alban, and restaurants Las Danzantes, Catedral and the restaurant at Santo Domingo convent. Temazcal at Renacer was very cool, as were massages at Namaste.

Room Tip: We love Bella Epoca, but all rooms seemed very private. This is a converted house.

I enjoyed our stay of two nights at this boutique hotel. It has only a few rooms and the two room suite I stayed in was decorated for a couple with children. 1400 pesos for the two room suite.
This is a very attractive property.
It is located only one and a half blocks from the central plaza of Oaxaca. ATM just around the corner and an Oxxo directly across the street.
90 pesos for a very good, complete breakfast on the roof terrace.
Parking for cars is nearby but we were allowed to park our motorcycles outside the front door.

I travel all over the world, around the globe about three times/year; and never stayed in such a nice hotel. Everything is very well thought through to the smallest detail: the negative critics here are from people who do not appreciate this love for details.
The rooms are actually apartments furnished with antique furiture and objects. The roof terrace is a dream, breakfast is great.
The staff is so helpful, competent and committed to the satisfaction of the visitors.
The location is in the center.
A wonderful experience, I will definitely go back!

We are a family of four who stayed here for 3 nights in December. We had the two top floor suites which opened onto the roof terrace - although it was where breakfast was served each morning for everyone staying at the hotel, the rest of the time it was our private eyrie overlooking the rooftops and a pleasant place to sit and read. The rooms were huge, the beds large and comfortable and the breakfast (included) was delicious. It's not for those who like a resort hotel with room service and a gym! It's small boutique accommodation close to the main plaza offering a very personal experience. It didn't bother us but don't stay here if you have any difficulty negotiating stairs - we were 3 flights up.The concierges were very helpful in booking taxis, restaurants and guides.
