Although only a fraction of the original site is visible, that fact only puts the expanse of these civilizations into perspective. While there are signs that explain what you are seeing, a good guide would be well worth the price.

As I walked around this site I had to keep reminding myself how old the construction is. When you move from area to area you realise what an enormous population that must have existed and the complexity of the economy that was needed to design and build such a place. It is so easy to get here from Oaxaca that it would be a pity to miss it. One tip I would give is barter hard with the persistant sellers. A vase I was initially offered for 750 pesos had been reduced to 200 pesos within a few minutes.

Got a late start there and caught a shuttle bus there,60 peso return.I believe there are cheaper ways to get there,as I saw a small bus up there. Not such a large complex but lovel tidy green lawns and trees.Been very well restored with some original bas relief carvings still there. After it fellin decline it was used as tombs, and some amazing things, which are in the museum in Oaxaca were found there.Beautiful views over almost the whole valley from the top of the pyramids.Well worth the trip up there.

We were very impressed with this archaeological treasure. It is amazing to see this old city so close to Oaxaca's Zocalo, So close is this old urban city to the now existing urban city, yet you would never know it was there if you did not venture out a little.

Beautifully maintained site with several pyramid and other structures, including the interesting offset one. Large enough site to allow the feeling of not being crowded even at a "busy" time of day
