“Beautiful building”
Reviewed 17 September 2013

This is a great little museum even for those not interested in textiles. It's free to enter and you can see a lot of the traditional village outfits. It's just a little museum so doesn't take up much time.

The building that houses this museum is very very nice, beautiful architecture. It's worth visiting just to see the building if you ask me.

The small collection was nice but would benefit from some written explanations about geographical sources, materials and techniques

“Come & Drool!”
Reviewed 18 August 2013

If you are, in any way, interested in fabric, yarns, weaving, needle arts or clothing design, you will love this museum. They have amazing exhibits from top traditional artisans from the villages of Oaxaca and from modern designers alike. I have oohed & ahhed at many an amazing huipil (traditional blouse/dress) or gorgeous rebozo (shall or wrap) that are beautifully displayed in this lovely museum. No need to attempt stealing anything! They have an amazing gift shop with top-quality goods for you & your home.

“Very special, recommend for textile buffs”
Reviewed 16 August 2013

This small free museum displays a small but wide ranging collection of textiles from around the world. Make sure to pick up the printed booklet in the first room to understand what you are looking at. No way people actually used those handkerchiefs.

“Worth the visit!”
Reviewed 15 August 2013

The Museo Textil de Oaxaca is an excellent museum with fabulous exhibits. It is free so you can't beat the price. The museum shop has an excellent selection of textiles from the state. I always visit this museum when I visit Oaxaca! They also do many special events where they bring in weavers from various parts of the state. All the textiles that the weavers bring in are for sale and the sale of these textiles goes directly to the weavers.
