I stayed in the hostel for 5 weeks, having a languagecourse in Oaxaca. At the end it was hard to leave this great place.
This hostel has the best service, I´ve ever had. When I arrived first my backpack was somewhere in Mexicocity and my creditcard in a bankmaschine. Totaly depressed and for the first hours without any Pesos, they gave me a bed and let me rest for a few hours. The whole staff is very friendly and made me feel home. But nevertheless I would like to point out "The morning Ladys" and Rubî (please stress the i for her :) ) Every morning Emi and Ade made me the included awesome breakfast with selfmade salsa. Teaching me how to make their salsa, made me speak spanish and bugging me when I was very tired or hangover, was very good and made me a smile every day.
Rubî was my favorite receptionist. She is Oaxaquena speaking spanish, english, french and italien and knows a lot about Oaxaca. I recommend asking her how to come to the tourist places without any tour. She can explain it very well. Or ask her about where you should go, to go out. (If you are extremly lucky, she will join you and teach you a bit of dancing salsa).
The terrace is very likely, too. Relaxing a bit or sitting together with other guest talking and drinking :P is what traveling makes for me.
In Oaxaca for sure there are cheaper hostels. But paying a few pesos more is definitly worth it. Even in Canada I hadnt such a clean hostel. The bathroom, kitchen and the rooms were always very clean. Furthermore the location is decent. The traditional "mercado" is 2min far away and the 15min walk to the Zocalo is beautiful.
I slept in a 12 beddorm, which has a window to the street. I won´t complain, for a 12 beddorm I slept good and it is Mexico, thats why there can be some fireworks in the morning and around 8am salesmen starting to drive around with loud speakers.
One day I will come back and then I will definitly stay again in the same hostel!
