I start my review with kudos to those working at the hotel who helped us all they could with our requests, once we were at the hotel.
So,
I tried booking online directly with them, ut was not responded to. They also advertised a golf package online, and we never received any responses online to the inquiries either.

we booked a third party booker, and were confirmed right away through that. We upgraded our room on arrival to a suite, which was spacious, clean and comfortable. We could not make the ac fan function, and it was stuck on high, however, we did not complain about this. The room is sealed tightly, to help mitigate street noise, so we fiddled wiith that ac control quite a bit. Across the street from the hotel is an appliance store, with speakers THIS big, blasting from 10 am to 8pm. We know the hotel cannot control this, but yikes!

We checked out earlier than our original depature plan, for an emergency, and the bill took some time to rectify, and we at first were oresented with a sum twice what ewe owed. We figured it out, but were surprised at the level of confusion.

the location was very good for our purposes. Easy to find with a map, as we had our car.

Room Tip: None of yhe rooms have windows to the outside, other to an interior courtyard

Location can't be beat. 1/2 block from the zocalo. Easy walk to Mercado, Santo Domingo, Alcala and major sites. cabs galore outside front doors. Yet very quiet despite proximity.

Hotel did mot seem to be full when we were here. Maybe it's because it wasn't or maybe because there are so few rooms. Poolside area and breakfast courtyard are lovely yet we never saw more than one other room there. Daily breakfast is delicious -- both buffet and a la carte.

Staff is quite friendly with typical Oaxacan warmth but more efficiency than we've seen in other Mexican hotels. Just seemed smarter with a few minor hiccups.

The common areas as mentioned above are lovely. We stayed in a "suite" with two full beds and a futon on the 3rd floor which accommodated our family of 5 quite well. but our minor beefs were with the room:

A) air conditioning unit was undersized and very loud when it engaged. It did not keep up with 90 degree heat. And when it engaged we were frequently woken up in the night.

B) Water pressure in shower was very weak at best and hot water hard to come by. Ironically pressure was great in the sink.

C) Beds were hard and not to our taste. Pillows were very good.

D) outdoor pool was lovely and shaded but unheated. Only the bravest (or in our case, youngest) of souls would venture in.

Would not hesitate to recommend strongly as value was also quite high.

Excellent stay!! Thank you!!

We loved our stay at De La Parra. The rooms were comfy. The beds were excellent - we slept like logs. And we just loved sitting by the pool in the evenings. No one else was around - so we had the place to ourselves. Despite this being a fairly busy noisy town - the hotel was wonderfully quiet. Our friends also had a dog - and the hotel was super accommodating about the dog wandering around. We would gladly stay here again!

I stayed there 3 weeks while studying Spanish. The location is wonderful--near the Zocalo and other major sites. The rooms are comfortable and clean. I can say rooms with an "s" because part way into my trip they suggested a room change. I was very happy with my original room but the second one was even better. Hotels don't to that on their own initiative. Very impressive and obviously highly personalized service. Breakfast was great and the staff very attentive. I would stay there again!

Pampered by the staff. Friendly and small, comfortable hotel. No Holiday Inn aspect to this old world charm. Only 1/2 half block off the zocalo. Walking distance to historic center of town attractions. What a great place to unwind. You get what you pay for.

Room Tip: Rooms fronting on courtyard, first floor, hear kitchen and diners' voices.

Unique hotel in classical style with very welcoming, helpful and hard working staff. We were the only guests on a couple of nights and had very special service and treatment. Even when we checked out at 4.30 am, the on-duty staff were alert and attentive. The breakfasts were excellent Mexican style and well cooked and served with attentive humour. The location of the hotel is very convenient for the town sites and restaurants around the Zocalo.

Our family of four (including teen and tween) just spent four nights at Hotel de la Parra and were sorry to leave: the hotel is beautiful and elegant but warm, the staff smiling, friendly and always helpful. Every inquiry and request was pursued immediately and thoroughly. The location, a block from the Zocalo, which was magic and wild during Christmas week, couldn't have been better. But for all the explosive joy of the Zocalo, returning at night to the orderly calm and quiet beauty of de la Parra was a sweet, hushed pleasure. Though it was too chilly to swim, we did enjoy lounging by the pool in the afternoon sun, a lovely setting. From our very first contact when we made the reservation, Rodolfo Reyes was patient and responsive, taking our calls and emails and offering tips, making connections, following through. Breakfasts in the pretty courtyard were splendid, with many options. The rooms were bright, clean, tasteful and welcoming.

Room Tip: It is a quiet hotel but for those who are extremely noise-sensitive, simply ask for a room away from...
